The Divine Paint Brush or What do you do for fun, relaxation, and the renewal of your mind?
Happy Labor Day Sunday Fellow Journey People!
What do you do for fun, relaxation, or the renewal of your mind? As I was walking this evening an looking at the clouds, Sun's rays, and all the wonders of God's creation, I realized that these vistas may be God's way of relaxing. Not that God needs to relax, but, S/he may create all these daily vistas so that we will slow down and enjoy the wonderful creation s/he has made. These walks have made me realize more and more that we all have to find ways to have fun, relax, and renew our minds. Cyber-Family that means you! Please do not spend any more countless and meaningless hours than you need to on the computer. Unplug and go have fun! I love walking, singing, talking pictures, and yes even praying. You may have a different list altogether. My late beloved Steve liked make music and compose songs with his best buddy/chosen brother Jon. One of their songs "Come to the Waters" made its public debut at his memorial service. One of the phrases in the song might be of help "I'm no longer locked!" What kind of daily habit or routine is binding you up? Make a list of the daily traps that keep you from enjoying your life. Take time to begin by going outside. If walking isn't your thing take one of your favorite books and go read in the park. Haven't been reading? Get back into it! It is one of the best ways to renew one's mind and keep your eyes exercised TV, Computers do not do that. Don't forget the sunscreen and the hat! Remember when we'd play tether ball and the ball would wrap around the pole? I love to grab hold of poles and swing around. This isn't pole dancing! TMI Sara! TMI!
This week's encouragement is to find some fun to add to your life. Don't know what fun is? Go to the park and watch a child. Find that childlike exuberance for life and living. Taking quirky selfies can be fun too! See how long you can frown or look serious until you break out into gales of laughter. It takes me a short time. Read "THURBER CARNIVAL" if it is still in print! "The Catbird Seat", I recommend highly! Find out what is meant by the phrase "Rub out Ulgine Barrows!" A friend of mine recommends THE CASUAL VACANCY by J.K. Rowling. Need more suggestions on how to have fun? Leave your comments in the comment box. Take time to reconnect with family, friends, and neighbors and connect with the sick, widowed, lonely and marginalized. Well dear ones please have a safe day tomorrow! I love you and want you to go out and have a boat load of fun! Take time to rest, relax, renew, and recreate your bodies, minds and spirits!
Love and peace of mind!
