First Friday Fun and Frolic! Another way to prepare for Self and Sabbath Care Weekend.
Good Evening Dear Family of Love!
Welcome to our First Friday featuring Fun and Frolic! It is also Keeping the Faith Friday Fearlessly Without Fretting! We all need to find balance between our spiritual and social selves. Remember unless we are living in a monastery we are entitled to have fun and frolic along with our faith. Jesus knew this more than anyone else. I cannot begin to tell you how many times we see Jesus taking time out to have meals, drink wine, and rest and I would also imagine that he also had fun as well. So dear ones let us model Jesus by taking time for a little bit of fun and frolic. Your spirit will thank you! God will also be happy that you are taking care of yourselves not begrudgingly but joyfully. How do we do this? Whatever you can find to do that will put a spring into your step and a smile on your face and joy in your heart. It doesn't have to involve alcohol. Tonight I would like all of us to make our fun and frolic list that will make all aspects of our lives fulfilling, joyful, and that will make our lives more complete. Don't forget we still have to place our worries, fears, and anxieties into our Worry/ Sabbath Box or Jar. I'm going to put on a jazzy bit of music so that will get us in the right frame of mind to create our list and make us feel playful and alive. Chuck Greenberg -Almost a Dream From a Blue Planet
God we thank you for this day and all the wonders and blessings you brought into it.
God we pray that we as your adult children may find each day that we live, move, and just be that childlike sense of wonder.
God we pray that we as adults may never hurry our children to grow up and become "Mini-Mes"
God we pray that we all remember that we are all developmental beings who need to go at the right pace in time and space.
God we pray that we may take time to walk with you in your Cathedral of Life. and help conserve the riches of creation so that the generations that may follow us may have a healthy planet in which to live.
God we pray that we may cease worry and lay down our burdens at your feet feel you arms lovingly enfolding us as we rest.
God we pray for an end to violence in our cities and towns and that we may return to having our parks, playgrounds, and neighborhoods places where childhoods may be fostered and protected.
God we pray for each one of our family member on the planet as we remember that they are your children too. Help us to love them more dearly, see you in them more clearly and walk with them peacefully and ever so nearly day by day.*
God we pray for peace in this fragile and broken world.
God as we enter into this weekend of Self and Sabbath Care we pray for____________________
and offer these our petitions and thanksgivings in the Name of Jesus your Son. Amen.
* Inspiration for this line in tonight's prayers -
Prayer of Saint Richard of Chichester
Thanks be to thee, my Lord Jesus Christ,
for all the benefits thou hast given me,
for all the pains and insults thou hast borne for me.
O most merciful redeemer, friend and brother,
may I know thee more clearly,
love thee more dearly,
and follow thee more nearly, day by day.
Amen.
The Lyrics from Godspell
*Day by day, oh, dear Lord, three things I pray
To see thee more clearly
Love thee more dearly
Follow thee more nearly, day by day
Day by day, day by day
Oh, dear Lord, three things I pray
To see thee more clearly
Love thee more dearly
Follow thee more nearly, day by day
