Reflections
Dear Family of Love,
I hope everyone remembered it is Keeping the Faith Friday Fearlessly Without Fretting. In case you didn't don't worry we all were busy remembering 9/11 and that seems to be what takes hold this time of year. It doesn't get any easier as we all know through grief's long journey. What do you remember and how do you remember? These are always going to be the questions of the day. What do I remember? I remember my bedridden mother watching TV with disbelief and grief and not being able to take a walk and have time to reflect upon the events of the day. I remember having to go into her room and tell her the news and the eerie silence throughout the day and feeling our hearts break into pieces and an ache we have never experienced before. How do I remember? I choose to remember by being focused on being at prayer and the opportunity this day gives us to serve and love our neighbors or as we call them family members. This day will always provide us with times to reflect upon many things. We mustn't become complacent with every event of violence we see, feel, or hear about. I thought that because 9/11 happened we would have found ourselves deeply rooted in a new way of being united in love, purpose, and as a family. These past years have given way to a time where this has become less and less true. We must regain our sense of love, purpose, and understanding. We must continually reflect upon this day at the very depths of our being. Where do you see yourself in the wake of 9/11? What do you remember? How are you going to remember? Let us take time tonight to do our own reflections and go deeper into a period of introspection. Let us start with our breathing and mindfulness exercises:
Inhale the Holy Spirit.
Exhale Love.
Inhale the Holy Spirit
Exhale Love
Inhale the Holy Spirit
Exhale Love
Now repeat the following 3 times;
Be Still and Know That I am God.
Be Still and Know
Be Still
Be
Tonight's musical selection is this: Common Threads - Bobby McFerrin
Now get out some kind of timer, mindfulness app, or music and set them for 5 minutes when you begin. Then close your eyes and be silent. If the music goes long don't worry that will lead you into our time of prayer and thanksgiving.
We pray and honor this day all who lost their lives on 9/11 and their family members.
We pray and honor all first responders who came to the aid of all those affected and especially any one who relies upon their services.
We pray and honor all who were and are survivors of this terrible tragedy.
We pray and honor all of the children who were born after the 9/11 tragedy and that they may learn many things about their parents.
We pray and honor the may countries and cities who took all those who were traveling.
We pray and honor all nations who had loss of life.
