Time to take time for holy pauses in the coming weeks to combat stress and un holiday like hype.
Dear Family of Love!
Happy day of Sabbath Rest.! I hope you did just that! I have been awake since early this morning so that I could make it to church and serve as the acolyte// Lay Eucharistic Minister. What a wonderful time at 8:00 a.m. albeit it was a tad bit chilly but that really awakened my spirit and kept me focused. Today I had the added extra of attending an organ concert up at the Cal Poly Performing Arts Center. Dr. Carol Williams was the organist and was awesome. Today my spirit was uplifted in more ways than one. Sundays are those days where our spirits need to be touched, uplifted, and warmed so that we may be in tune with God and our family members throughout the world . This is the day where we find God everywhere and even in the notes of a piece of music. We must listen to God in the melody of our hearts and in daily living. God speaks to us in amazing and wonderful ways. Stop for just a moment and listen and feel God's. Beginning now and for the coming weeks we must take time to stop, look, and listen for God in our hearts, heart homes, spirits, and wherever God wants to make God known to you. I would like to invite you into taking many times a day out for a holy pause and be mindful where you are and God is. Go deeper in those moments and listen to God in the stillness and in God's still small voice of calm.
Tonight we will begin to Stop, Look, and Listen and make time for this holy pause in the silence of our inner being. Let us take a few gentle breaths as we usually do but slowly inhaling and exhaling. Close your eyes and do a few relaxation exercises. Feel yourself becoming calmer and more relaxed. Now begin to journey to your heart homes and begin your visit and conversation with God. Stay there as long as you like. Try to take a break outdoors and enjoy God's Cathedral of Life. The following prayers are from last year's anniversary blog :Beside the Still Waters.........
Gracious God, we thank you for all that you have made and that you made everything to be holy and good.
Gracious God, we thank you for your gift of the Psalms that allows us to see the majesty of you Cathedral of Life.
Gracious God. give us peaceful bodies, minds, and spirits wherever we may be and especially out in nature.
Gracious God, we pray that as we are your children may be good stewards of your Cathedral of Life.
Gracious God, we pray that as we see these peaceful vistas we may become peacemakers to Your fragile and broken world.
Gracious God,give us times for self-care and direct our footsteps to where you would have us go.
Gracious God, we pray for all of your most vulnerable children, our brothers and sisters that the my find peace of mind, body, and spirit and not feel lonely or afraid.
Gracious God, we pray for all who are ill that they may be healed from all of their dis-ease and that we may step up to give comfort. show compassion and most of all be loving.
Gracious God we pray for the Family of God that we are members of that we may be united and not divided. May we spread your light to the world and to each other.
Gracious God, we pray for all who are dying and those who have died. We pray that they may have a peaceful transition into the Thin Places and that they may feel your loving arms of welcome O God.
Gracious God, we pray for all who mourn, give them comfort and may we do the same.
Gracious God we pray for ourselves and on behalf of others remembering_____________
Gracious God guide our steps that we may be led to what we are called to do and be. May we respond with love and an enthusiastic Yes.
All this we ask in the name of Jesus the Christ our Redeemer, Brother, and Friend. Amen.
