Being Thoughtful and Thankful Thursday- What am I thankful for? What should we be thankful for?

Good Evening Dear Family of Love!

Happy Being Thoughtful and Thankful Thursday! We seem to be in a bad place in this country of ours where we have lost the gratitude and gratefulness skill set. When I see the hate, the bullying, terror, dis-unity and the like I am reminded that all of those things lead us on to the path of un-thankfulness. Yes our nation and many of our family members have ceased to be thankful and thoughtful of our family members. We often take many things we have for granted because we are still in the place of gimme, gimme, gimme, and the toddler speak of Me, mine, and no! We like to grab things for ourselves and not be in the sharing mode. It is high time to begin a time of national repentance, sharing, and thoughtfulness with a large dose of gratitude and thanksgiving. We must ask ourselves these questions: What am I thankful for ? What should we be thankful for?  We all must do this daily and not when prompted on Sundays, Thursdays, Maundy Thursdays, National Days of Thanksgiving etc. We mus be thankful every day. As we develop our gratitude and gratefulness skill set we will be able to dial down the hate and  fear and begin to sew seeds of love and trust.  Remember the old line " You will reap, what you sew?" What seeds of gratitude have you sewn? What seeds are you sewing to affect change in this world and are you ready tend the soil in fertile and not desolate ground. Are you prepared to water, fertilize, plant these seeds in the right sunlight? If your answer is yes that means we need to clear away all the weeds and tend our spiritual ground for the good of all and that means ourselves as well.  Are you ready? Take time to ponder these things  but first let us begin with a period of listening and mindfulness.

Here is our mindfulness music for tonight/

Robert Haig Coxon- Tranquility

Relax, breathe, take time to be thoughtful and thankful. Then begin to ponder the questions set before us this night. Let us remember them now: What am I thankful for? What should we be thankful for?

Today is Being Thoughtful and Thankful Thursday God! We find ourselves often in the mode of gimme, gimme, gimme and not the place of  Thank You, Thank you, Thank you! We pray that this night we may begin to pray and give thanks so that  we may affect change not only in our lives but in the world you created for us to live, love, and tend. We pray that as we offer our thanks and be thoughtful we would be able to erase from this world hate, war, terror, bullying, abuse, and foster as sense of CALM (Compassion, Acceptance, Love,, and Mercy). God we give thanks for all that you have created  and pray that we may be good conservationists of your Cathedral of Life. We pray and give thanks for our family members and pray for all families who are estranged. We pray for unity, equality, equity, and justice for all of our family members. God we pray and give thanks especially for__________________. We light our candles now in memory of all of those times when we haven't been thankful and times when we need to repent of the things that we have done. Let these bright lights be a symbol of newness and a reminder that we must be mindful of the needs of others. We pray these prayers on this Being Thoughtful and Thankful Thursday and lay them at your feet Jesus. Help us to reflect your light and love to this fragile and broken world. "The Light of Christ in Me, Recognizes the light of Christ in you! Amen.

Grateful for this country as fragile and broken it may be.
The gifts of those who show me the holy in the arts.
God's Cathedral of Life and all of God's creation.
For a newly health body, mind, and spirit.
That I can celebrate life in every breath that I take.

Now let us pray our lists reading them aloud and  by responding to the first list We thank you God
 and

The second list We offer out grateful hearts and praise to You O God of All.

Gracious God we come to you this night with many things on our hearts and minds. Lift our spirits as we prepare for the feast of Pentecost.

Gracious God we pray for our family throughout the world and that peace may prevail everywhere and in our own country.

Gracious God  we pray for  understanding between all peoples and that we begin to not be afraid of race, creed, color, gender, or sexual orientation.

Gracious God we offer our prayers and thanksgivings to you  remembering especially____________

Gracious God we pray for the least of these that they may find safe shelter, warm meals, and protective clothing. We pray that we may see you in them as we serve and love them without fear and judgement.

Gracious God we pray for all who travel and that the weather will be in their favor.

Gracious God may we always be thankful and have an attitude of gratitude.

We pray these prayers and offer them in the Name of your Only Son who taught us the true meaning of thanksgiving by instituting the Holy Eucharist which means Holy Thanksgiving. Amen.
