Good Evening Beloved Community!
It is Saturday Vigil time once again. Let us light our candles, turn on our porch lights, and light the fire of prayerful action within so that we may carry God's light into this fragile and broken world. Sometimes our social justice family members sing out in prophetic witness. You know the ones? Like Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Arlo and Woody Guthrie to name a few. How many of you have your favorite playlist of action songs? I know I do! Let us take time to journal these song titles and look up the lyrics. What do they say to us? Are the songs relevant to today? Tonight we are going to ponder a few quotes from the above persons and then begin our vigil time together. So brothers and sisters let us begin.

Great Spirit of Light, come to me out of the East (red) with the power of the rising sun. Let there be light in my words, let there be light on my path that I walk. Let me remember always that you give the gift of a new day. And never let me be burdened with sorrow by not starting over again.
Great Spirit of Creation, send me the warm and soothing winds from the South (yellow). Comfort me and caress me when I am tired and cold. We pray that we all may know that we are called to serve and care for the least of these and love our neighbors who are our family members and that when God means we love our neighbors he means all of them not some. Those who work in the leisure industry
Lord of the Sabbath, on the seventh day the consummation of Your creative activity was rest, not as an escape from the work you had done, but to bask in its completion. Our desire to pursue leisure is part of what it means to be made in your image and can only find its true fulfilment in a sense of Your presence. We confess that too often leisure has simply become the means of self-gratification, and rather than drawing us to You is seen as something that tempts us away. Help us to use our leisure wisely, and as we recognise that one individual’s recreation is often the cause of toil for another, so we pray for all those who work in the leisure industry. May our pursuit of pleasure not leave them un-noticed or taken for granted, may we act in a way that makes their work easier and not more difficult. Help us all to see the pursuit of leisure as part of Your purpose for us, and so give to it the dignity it deserves. AMEN
