Good Evening Beloved Community!
Today we remember the legacies of 3 people, The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the anniversary of his assassination, Ansel Adams, and John Muir. We will use the lessons for the feast day of Martin Luther King Jr. and meditate upon the the words of Ansel Adams and John Muir who were the personification of God's Cathedral of Life and conservation. You can't separate Yosemite from Ansel Adams and John Muir. So let us hear and meditate on the words these stalwarts in the early environmental movement have to say to us today.

Lest we forget the great traditions of freedom and faith which are the heritage of humanity; lest we forget the pioneers, the statesmen, the bridge builders, the artists; and lest we forget You, the God of our fore bears who is our God also:

We pray for all leaders and that they may in the words of the prophet Micah "Do Justly, Love Mercy, and walk humbly with God" We pray that they may seek to know what being a true servant leader is all about and not just for power grabs and and agendas that are designed to divide and not unite. We pray that we all may know that we are called to serve and care for the least of these and love our neighbors who are our family members and that when God means we love our neighbors he means all of them not some. Creator,
our Father in heaven,
we come to you as your children.
We confess that we are weak and broken images of you.

Those who work in the leisure industry
Lord of the Sabbath, on the seventh day the consummation of Your creative activity was rest, not as an escape from the work you had done, but to bask in its completion. Our desire to pursue leisure is part of what it means to be made in your image and can only find its true fulfilment in a sense of Your presence. We confess that too often leisure has simply become the means of self-gratification, and rather than drawing us to You is seen as something that tempts us away. Help us to use our leisure wisely, and as we recognise that one individual’s recreation is often the cause of toil for another, so we pray for all those who work in the leisure industry. May our pursuit of pleasure not leave them un-noticed or taken for granted, may we act in a way that makes their work easier and not more difficult. Help us all to see the pursuit of leisure as part of Your purpose for us, and so give to it the dignity it deserves. AMEN
