Good Evening Beloved Family Members!
Happy Friday and Day 16 of Celtic Advent! We are officially on our weekend retreat and prayer vigil time. This is so important for us to do this. This season I am inviting us to continue to journey inward and slow down and make this time your time to reconnect with God, Yourself, and your neighbors. Nothing fancy! Stop, Look, and Listen to what God is saying in y/our heart homes as we sit in the presence of God and make this as season of Sabbath. I don't know about you but my calendar is way too full for my own good but at the same time this is an opportunity to pick and choose what is important and what is not. Speaking of calendars, let us see what is in store for us on our Celtic Advent Calendar for this weekend:

Dear Ones it is time once again for our nightly Virtual Candlelight Prayer Vigil and light our candles and pray for an end to hatred and fear. We pray this night for clean air, water, and soil so that God's Cathedral of Life may be revived and protected. We pray for all of our family members who are on the margins and who feel lost, lonely, alone, and invisible. We pray for peace and safety in all cities, states, and nations of the world. We add our thoughts and thanksgivings on this Being Thoughtful and Thankful Thursday and remember to wear our attitudes of CALM (compassion, acceptance, love and mercy) and gratitude in service to God and the entire family of God.

A Smudging Prayer
Creator, our Father in heaven, we come to you as your children. We confess that we are weak and broken images of you. We pray for the forgiveness and healing you give in Jesus Christ. May his Spirit clean our spirits, minds, hearts, and bodies. We pray that your Holy Spirit will help us to worship in spirit and truth. We pray in the name of Jesus, so that his Spirit will carry our prayers to you. Amen.
God, as we light our candles this night and pray that the words we pray may lend towards peace and CALM(Compassion Acceptance Love Mercy). God we pray that we may learn to use our words with gentleness and wisdom. We pray that we may pray and think about what we do and how we act. Quiet our minds O God so that we can listen and hear your voice and what you are calling us to do and to be.
Help us to be still and listen to that quiet place in our heart and spirit. Help us to unwind our minds O God.
Quiet our bodies that we may turn our bodies from human doings to human beings.
Take the keys away that drive our bodies to do and not be.
Help us to feel our spirits and the indwelling of You and the Holy Spirit in this time of being quiet and still.
May our spirits be enlivened even in the quietness.
Lord we pray for all who are traveling may they take time to rest and be alert.
Lord help us to lay down our burdens each day at your feet so that we may find rest and spend time with You.
Give us the peace of mind that we are always seeking.
While we spend time with you Lord please take care of all of our loved ones and those whom we have been praying for. If we should fall asleep and rest be with them as we rest in the quietness.
In the stillness O Lord may we drink of the Living Water of Life and be refreshed and feel it coursing through our veins and give us the energy to do your will to your glory and in service to others.

Lord God watch over this your troubled and divided world. Set us on fire to help heal and unite it with our prayers, love, service, and actions. Give us grace, courage and love energy to do this in Your Name. Amen.

Friday – The Boisil Compline
Boisil, Prior of Melrose Abbey, died in 661. Bede described him as a ‘priest of great virtue and prophetic spirit.’ Boisil, on his first meeting with Cuthbert, who was to be his pupil, exclaimed, ‘Behold, the servant of the Lord!’ – recognizing the call of God on the young man’s life.If this Compline is being used in a group setting the * notation indicates a change of reader; words in bold are said all together; words in bold italic are said by each person in turn; and + indicates where you might make the sign of the cross.

Today’s Meditation
In the present moment
Hurry is an unpleasant thing in itself, but also very unpleasant for whoever is around it. Some people came into my room and rushed in and rushed out and even when they were there they were not there – they were in the moment ahead or the moment behind. Some people who came in just for a moment were all there, completely in that moment.
Live from day to day, just from day to day. If you do so, you worry less and live more richly. If you let yourself be absorbed completely, if you surrender completely to the moments as they pass, you live more richly those moments.

Celtic Advent: November 16th
This was the traditional beginning of monastic fasting and preparation for the feast of Christmas, reflecting Lent in lasting for forty days. We seek to prepare the way for the Lord to come right to the centre of our lives. Every valley and pot-hole should be filled in, every mountain and hill levelled and every obstacle removed. The mountains are the wrongs we do, and the pot-holes are the good things we fail to do.
It is said that the door to the stable where the Christ-child has been born is very low – and only those who kneel find access. Being ready for Christmas should mean that our thoughts are focused not just on letters, cards, food and drink, and presents, but on repentance, humility and interior ‘house-cleaning’. The more we prepare in this way, the less we will be overwhelmed by the commercialisation of Christmas.
Prepare a way for the Lord!
Show me, Lord Jesus, how I may best prepare to celebrate Your birth into this world. Show me those things I need to repent of, that I may find Your forgiveness. Show me how to avoid the greed and selfishness of this season and focus on what is truly essential. Amen.
Our Celtic Saint of the Day from the Northumbria Community
Charles de Foucauld (1858-1916) December 1st
Brother Charles of Jesus was born into a rich French family and spent his youth as a playboy, soldier and explorer. All this came to an end when he was dramatically converted to Christ and became a monk in the Trappist order. He was seeking a thoroughly ascetic life, and even the Trappist rule was not demanding enough for him. So he lived out his vocation in poverty as a hermit in the Sahara Desert among its tribespeople. Finally he joined the priesthood. Inspired by his life and example, the Communities of the Little Brothers and Sisters of Jesus sprang up after his death, which came by the hands of fanatical Muslim bandits after he was betrayed by his own servant.
His great theme was abandonment to the love of Christ. Nothing else mattered to him, and he was never completely satisfied with the state of his own soul. His heart’s true desire was to give all his love to Christ and to suffer for that love, offering his tears on behalf of those who needed his prayers. Often he would stay awake through the night simply to share the presence of God with him. Like the Celtic saints of old he sought to offer all the activities of each day to God in prayer, or simply by focussing his thoughts on God, the all-wise Father who loved him dearly and gave him only what was good for him.
Our prayer today is his Prayer of Abandonment to God (Celtic Daily Prayer Meditations Day 4):
Father, I abandon myself into Your hands.
Do with me what You will; whatever You do, I will thank You.
I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only Your will be done in me, as in all Your creatures,
and I’ll ask nothing else, my Lord.
Into Your hands I commend my spirit;
I give it to You with all the love of my heart,
for I love You, Lord, and so need to give myself,
to surrender myself into Your hands with a trust beyond measure,
because You are my Father. Amen.
