Good Evening Beloved Community!

Happy Friday! I cannot believe that it is the last Friday in July! Last evening I told you that we would be talking about walking the walk and talking the talk on the pilgrim way of love. How are we going to do this? I'm encouraging each one of us to get to know our communities better. I have been doing this through walking and joining and becoming active in our community organizations. People, we can't just be doing this through our churches and the square footage that surrounds it and beyond.

This weekend while we are on our usual retreat get out your journal and write down what interests and passions you have that you are doing at church, in the community for our family members, and what organizations you belong to. Place these items in columns! Next do any of these intersect with these baptismal promises in the (Book of Common Prayer)

The Renewal of Baptismal Vows

Celebrant Do you reaffirm your renunciation of evil and

renew your commitment to Jesus Christ?

creator of heaven and earth.

Charles Raymond Barnes who was martyred in the Dominican Republic 1938. He is a prefigurement of what has been happening in the Western Hemisphere up until today.

His efforts remind me of St. Oscar Romero. So tonight since we don't have Fr. Barnes' quotes we will remember St. Oscar Romero. So let us begin.

God of the free, our Earth is small in the great universe. Grant us the wisdom and the vision to comprehend the great ness of the human spirit that suffers and endures hugely for a goal beyond our own brief span.

Loving God, we thank you for the gift of life in all its diversity and beauty. It is time for us to recommit ourselves to our daily Virtual Candlelight Prayer Vigils. Tonight Let us pray for our country that there will be an end to the terrible divisiveness ,hatred, and extremism that is affecting it. We pray that we may once again find common ground and a return of common decency. We continue to pray that we become bridge builders and peacemakers. We pray that we my be united as one family in CALM (Compassion, acceptance, Love, and mercy) Purpose, for the good and benefit of all. We pray that we may acknowledge our dependence upon each other and every living thing and that we may practice conservation of God's Cathedral of life.

Tonight let us love one another and extend our arms of love to one another and our hands in friendship. We are truly family and sacred beings made in the image and likeness of God. Every day is sacred even when we don't feel like it is! So in the silence of tonight's meditation may we pledge to ourselves and one another that we are family, we love one another, accept each other where we are and who we are, and that we will never hate or harm each other in any way. Tonight and if you are reading this tomorrow, I'm issuing a call for all of us to be the holy and loving children of God.

Prayers of Commitment

God help us to commit to each other every day to be mindful that everyone matters.

God help us we pray to commit our lives to the care of all of our family members nearby and far away.

God help us we pray to commit our Love Energy and Heat Homes to making peace on our streets and through out the world.

God help us we pray to commit our care muscles in the care of all our family members and especially the least of these and our many family members who are ill in body, mind, and spirit.

God help us we pray to commit our compassion muscles in lovingly supporting our family members who are grieving and having life struggles.

God help us we pray to commit our energy to be good conservationists of your Cathedral of Life.

God help us we pray to commit ourselves to the fight of injustice, being a voice for the voiceless, and speaking truth to power and letting justice roll down.

God help us we pray to commit ourselves to the inclusion of all human beings into our lives and be fully accepting of them as our brothers and sisters.

God help us we pray to commit our energies in the service of all our family members who are in trouble, danger, escaping tyranny and unsafe nations.

God help us we pray to commit ourselves to protecting all who labor in factory, farm, and everywhere.

God we commit ourselves to you,

Let us imagine being able to look at one another and see God's face in everyone we meet.

Let us imagine no longer having to be suspicious just because of the color of our skin, faith community, gender expression and sexual orientation, or where we come from.

Let us imagine actually listening in holy dialog and finding common ground.

Let us imagine being in solidarity with one another when times get tough and we need to lean upon one another.

Let us imagine and pray as we light this single candle of unity.that we are together as the Family of God in Community right here, right now, and in the holy presence of God and each other.

God we pray that we may build bridges by learning from each other, walking united in love and peace, and by letting go of our agendas that seek only to divide and harm. We pray that we may build bridges where we may at the beginning meet each other halfway and begin a holy dialogue seeking peace and understanding. We pray that we may build bridges based on unconditional love and acceptance and common ground. We pray that we may build bridges by seeing God in and through each other by acknowledging that God made us in God's image and likeness. We pray that we may build bridges by engaging in holy listening with our listening ears and hearts. We pray that we may build bridges together and tear down the walls that seek only to divide, harm, and cause us to be afraid and hate one another without cause. We pray that we may build bridges of Compassion, Acceptance, Love and Mercy beginning this night and always. Amen.
