Good Evening Beloved Ones!
Tonight we meet and make vigil, pray, and remember the life of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. We begin our time together by praying and meditating this prayer in today's Resistance Prays:
We all knew this day would come.
We knew she was sick. And frail.
But she was our bright shining light.
And imagining her death, her ending on this earth.
Was unimaginable.
And so we put it out of our heads, it was too much.
Too much to wrap our heads around.
Too much for our hearts to imagine.
Too much for our spirits to consider bearing.
She was our everything.
She was our light.
She was our joy.
She was our North Star.
O God, you have her now.
She loved you and she is with you.
We admit that we do not want to have her away from us.
Not ever, but especially not like this.
Not at this time.
Not with these people who bathe and swim in evil. Who revel in its ways.
Making the choice for who to nominate to replace her.
Defile her chair.
Hurt all that we love
All of those whom we love
And will find joy in that hurt.
We are terrified.
For our daughters.
For our LGBTQIA+ siblings.
For every one.
And every thing.
God come near us.
God help us.
God walk with us.
Send your Spirit to sit with us in our sadness and grief.
And be sure to help us say “thank you” for the gifts you continue
To shower upon us.

The Message
31-39 So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture:
They kill us in cold blood because they hate you.
We’re sitting ducks; they pick us off one by one.
None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.

Maker of the stars and Master of the nations of the earth, we pray for the future of all countries engaged in the audacious, ever changing, ever challenging experiment of democracy..
