Good Evening Beloved Community!

Happy Take Care Tuesday! This is most definitely a blog for the my memory book! 5 years ago it was  the eve of my colon cancer surgery. That was then, this is now: I had two medical appointments today. At 9:30 a.m. I had my G.I. Doc give me the results of my colonoscopy! All clean, clear, and cancer free! Yippee! I took the RTA (Regional Transit Authority ) bus up to Pismo Beach to see my neurologist at 10:14 a.m. but before that I stopped in to the Boone Street Market for a cup of coffee. They have small cups for $1.00! I had time to do that and then got on the bus and purchased my $5.50 regional day pass! I was so happy to be able to look out the window and see the green hills and lush carpet of grasses and mustard a result from all the rain. I got up to Pismo and had brunch at Huckleberry's after that I walked over to Coast Neuro and got there a little bit too early for a 12:50 appointment. I was in the office for about 2.5 hours. Dr. Hardesty told me that the cardio- tests came out ok and that they don't know why I had a stroke so they are calling it a Cryptogenic Stroke. I have requested to be seen by a a cardiologist who is familiar with electrophysiology just to be on the safe side because my dad had skipped beats. Dr. Hardesty concurred. I got home around 5:40 p.m. I have walked over 14,000 steps and close to 7 miles. This is the second day of doing this. I'm taking it easy and I think you should to so we are going to do a gentle time of worship and then return to our basic format tomorrow.

A Smudging Prayer

Creator,
our Father in heaven,
we come to you as your children.
We confess that we are weak and broken images of you.
We pray for the forgiveness and healing you give in Jesus Christ.
May his Spirit clean our spirits, minds, hearts, and bodies.
We pray that your Holy Spirit
 will help us to worship in spirit and truth.

so that his Spirit will carry our prayers to you.

Confession of Need

Let us confess our need for God’s healing grace.

Silence

Compassionate God,
we confess our weaknesses and our need for your
strengthening touch.
We confess that some illnesses stem from our own fault,
while others are beyond our control.

A Litany for Healing

Let us name before God those for whom we offer our prayers.

Thanksgiving for Recovery

God, your loving-kindness never fails and your mercies are new every morning. I thank you for giving me relief from pain and hope of health renewed. Continue the good work begun in me; that increasing daily in wholeness and strength, I may rejoice in your goodness and so order my life always to think and do that which pleases you; through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen.

For Those Who Are Developmentally Disabled 

Giver of all grace, we pray your peace, which passes all understanding, for us who are developmentally disabled. Grant that we may always be sustained in love, our gifts honored, and our difficulties understood, that none may add to our troubles. We ask this in the name of the one who comforted those who were troubled in mind, Jesus our Savior. Amen
