Happy Monday and The Transferred Observance of St. Luke the Evangelist.. Yesterday we used the lessons from the Eucharistic Lectionary appointed for St.. Luke's actual feast day. Today we are using two of the featured lessons from the Daily Office. What is amazing about these two lessons is the fact that they are the beginnings of not one but two books of the Bible! The Gospel of Luke and The Acts of the Apostles. When you hear the word beginning what resonates with you? Have you ever looked up the word for its etymology? If you haven't let us do this word study now and then ponder selected quotes on the word beginning!

Let us light our candles of love and unity as we enter into this time of sacred prayer and make vigil.
God of all love we come together tonight to accept your call to light our candles and pray. We pray this night to be loving towards one another. We pray this night for guidance in how we can best serve you in the world. We pray that we may be more giving of ourselves to others. We pray that we may be able to be hopeful and hope-filled to this fragile and broken world. We pray that we may shine your light and help people out of the dark places they find themselves in. We pray that we may be supportive in what ever decisions people make, We pray for the least of these who struggle with the day to day issues of living.
