Good Evening Beloved Ones!
Happy Retreat Weekend. Yesterday, I had quite a few meetings and needed to catch up on my studies from my Spiritual Formation Class, and that is why we didn't have our usual blog time. Tonight we commemorate Andrei Rublev who was a monk and iconographer. How many of you have explored religious icons? If you have, I would hope that you'd agree that they are in the words of today's collect "Looking into the window of Heaven". If you haven't take time to Google his work and others. When I was going through my chemotherapy, I became interested in taking art pilgrimages to The Getty Villa and Getty Center. In the Summer of 2014 I went to the Getty Villa in Malibu and saw a remarkable exhibit on Byzantine art along with a plethora of iconography. I visited this exhibit twice and each time I would encounter the icons I would see the emotional icon of the Transfiguration. I would cry every time I would see it. Does artwork do this to you? Does creation do this to you? These are the questions for this weekend's retreat. Let us begin our time with this hymn:

God we pray that we may never be silent during times of conflict and let the world know that it is unacceptable to be filled with hate violence in the forms of action and speech, bigotry, racism, and extreme thinking.
