Happy Metta Monday on Chumash Land. This blog will be using the lessons from the feast of Cornelius Hill from yesterday and quotes from Joy Harjo. The reason for the quotes from Joy Harjo is this, her book CRAZY BRAVE was featured at yesterday's SURJ (Showing Up For Racial Justice) Book group. She is an awesome Native American woman. So let us begin by entering in with the prayer of the 4 Directions:

Lovingkindness (Metta) Prayer
May "all beings" be happy, healthy and whole.
May they have love, warmth and affection.

May that peace expand into their world and throughout the entire universe.
This prayer is traditionally done for successively wider circles of caring, with “all beings”replaced appropriately. The first round would be for yourself, then those closest to you, then those who you feel neutral toward, then those with whom you have difficulties, and continuing outward until it includes all beings.
