The arts and prayer a powerful combination! a photo blog with photos from the Getty Center and St. John's Cathedral. The arts lift our spirits and hearts take flight.

Dear Family of  Love,

Today is Self-care Saturday! Today we take time to be kind for ourselves. With all that is going on in this world and in our lives today we must do this. We do not have a choice in the matter  Our lives are fragile as is our world. Today I had time to visit the Getty Center up on the hill over looking the 405 Freeway. Today I had the opportunity to see Peter Paul Rubens' The Triumph of the Eucharist and many wonderful works of art including Vincent van Gogh's Irises . Seeing these amazing pieces of art healed my heart and refreshed my spirit. We need to find those things that refresh our bodies, minds, and spirits. God created artists to make our lives more sweeter and have meaning. I know that this is true since my dad's passing and my cancer diagnoses that art, theater, the outdoors, and music  have made the difference. The arts along with prayer gives one a fresh lease on life. They are a  powerful combination that heals, refreshes, renews, and takes us to new and wonderful spiritual heights if  we allow ourselves to take this journey. Tonight we will take time to pray on our own so that I can show you some of the photos from today's visit to the Getty and St. John's Cathedral. I will even post more music. I hope these pictures may make your spirit take flight.

Tonight we pray and give thanks for artists, sculptors, musicians, actors, writers, dancers,  poets who make our  souls take flight.and renew our minds and hearts.

For Church Musicians and Artists from THE BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER
O God, whom saints and angels delight to worship in
heaven: Be ever present with your servants who seek through
art and music to perfect the praises offered by your people on
earth; and grant to them even now glimpses of your beauty,
and make them worthy at length to behold it unveiled for
evermore; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Good night Family of Love! Have a blessed and restful Night. I love you and give thanks to God for you this night and always.

Peace, Love, and prayers, and God's Blessings!

Sara
