Let's put on the mantle of resiliency and pray! Our season of prayer continues!

Good Late Evening Dearly Loved Ones!

Happy Take Care Tuesday! I hope that we remember that we must take care of ourselves so that we may take care of others. It seems as though we are in the midst of struggle and sorrow. Today we remember the Oklahoma City bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building that happened 21 years ago today and at the same time we awaken to the news of the terrorist incident in Kabul, Afghanistan lots of pain, suffering, sorrow, and yest anger at how other human beings treat one another. I hope everyone hasn't put on the armor of stoicism and become inured and insensitive with these occurrences. We as people of faith need to put on the mantles of resiliency and love and yes even tenderheartedness. Each day before I write this blog I sift through social media to see what the common theme and emotional tones that are present. Today we see many things that raise our blood pressure and hurt our hearts. How many of you have taken time to find solace and soulace? I did just that at St. Peter's today as I did my Tuesday afternoon shift and handed out 23 shelf stable lunches to our homeless and working poor. I also chaperoned the Yoga class that is offered in Spanish sponsored by our local hospital. St. Peter's today was my place of solace as it always is. Where is and where was yours today? If this is your soft place to fall every night let us come together and worship and pray in community and set our bodies, minds, and spirits in God's most loving arms before we rest or when we rise.

Let us pray and be one with God and each other!

Be Still and know that I am God.
Be Still and know that I am.
Be Still and know.
Be Still.
Be.

Repeat until your inner being feels at peace.

We come to you loving and merciful God this night as we light our candles and pray for the peace of the world that is in the midst of struggle and sorrow. We come before you with heavy hearts that are in need of comfort because of bewilderment and the constant need to ask Why things are happening the way they are> We pray for the innocent victims of terror from days long past remembering our family members who lost their lives in Oklahoma City, Columbine, 9/11 and today in Kabul. We pray for all who have been affected by natural disasters in Houston, Japan, and Ecuador. We remember and pray for sound governance and statesmanship through out the world and in our own country. We pray for the least of these who are in any need and especially those who lack food, clothing and shelter. We pray this night that the candles we light either virtual or real may shine the light of Christ into the dark places of the world and in our hearts if they should need lightening. We pray that a spirit of CALM (Compassion, Acceptance, Love, and Mercy) and respect may grow among us all and all of our family members especially those who are our enemies, those who hate us, and the many family members who haven't heard the Good News of Love.

Prayers for our family-

God we pray this night and every night to put on the mantle of compassion, acceptance, love, mercy, and resiliency as we pray.

Dear God we pray for our family where ever they may be tonight! Keep watch, protect, and defend them from all danger.

We pray for our elders and those who have come before us to pave the way for the life we enjoy. May we continue to learn from them.

We pray for all our young family members who are growing up in troubling and uncertain times. Wrap your blanket around them with your love.

We pray for the family of God that we may be united in love, compassion, and acceptance.

We pray for our family members who are sick, chronically ill and in pain.

We pray that all of our family members may be safe when they travel nearby and far away.

Help us to love, honor, respect and comfort all of our family members and yes even our enemies and those who hate us. We pray for an end to these harmful and divisive acts that make us estranged from one another.
