Happy Being Thoughtful and Thankful Thursday! Wow what a day! Lots of wonderful Zoom meetings and Facebook Live events! My morning began at 6:30 a.m. with a FB live event from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on Friendship during the Holocaust. Please check it out. at 9:00 I attended my first Zoom with a presentation from Yale Divinity School on "Racial Resilience: Anti-racism as Spiritual Praxis" at 11:00 I attended a presentation by the National Council of Churches on COVID-19 and the Politics of Death in the U.S. at 1:00 p.m. Becoming The Beloved Community Now and to top it all off at 6:00 p.m. A Town Hall on the Status of of the African American Community in Santa Barbara County! My head is spinning. Tonight we celebrate the Feasts of William Wilberforce and Anthony Ashley Cooper, 7th Earl of Shaftesbury, who used to be paired together. These two were key in the early abolition of the slave trade in England. If you haven't seen the movie "Amazing Grace" please make an effort to do so. It is about William Wilberforce. Speaking of the title "Amazing Grace", how many of you know that the hymn was written by John Newton a former slave trader who later became an Anglican clergyman and abolitionist?
