Good Evening Dear Family of Love and God!
We find ourselves in almost the middle of the month and that is very hard to believe. In two weeks we will be once again beginning our Lenten observances with Ash Wednesday. Ashes to Go will be traveling around and we will be making our Lenten kind of New Year's resolutions as to what we pick up and lay down. This year I would like us to begin this task now and prayerfully discern what we are going to do. This is just an alert not a warning! I would like us to spend time in prayer and service. Our service should be social justice focused and a time where we learn how to love our enemies for real not just put on and pretend. These are your bits and pieces prior to Shrove Tuesday.
Here at walk with me we are going to go through the nightly Psalms daily with the help of the Book of Common Prayer. We have the opportunity to read all the Psalms in one month. I will post the daily Psalms as our Lenten Meditation. To show you how this is going to work we will have a preview of it tonight. We will also be using the daily lectionary so that our time with the holy scripture may be broadened. We will have weekly prayer cycles that will have a designated theme. I will be endeavoring to write 40 new sets of prayers for 40 days. That is our road map as we begin to prepare for our special seasonal journey together. Yes we will still have virtual prayer vigils.
Let's set our sacred space by lighting a candle and settling in for a time of silent vigil and prayer.
Let my prayer be set forth in your sight as incense, the lifting
up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Psalm 141:2

O gracious Light,
pure brightness of the everliving Father in heaven,
O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed!
Now as we come to the setting of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light,

O Son of God, O Giver of life,
and to be glorified through all the worlds.
To show you how our nightly Psalm reading is going to be laid out we will have the entire day's Psalmody: You may read and meditate on both the morning and the evening or choose one set of either. Heads up! Last week at the monastery we read and prayed multiple Psalms at every daily office. That is what we are going to do here.
Fifteenth Day: Morning Prayer

calling upon your Name and declaring all your

O God of compassion, who opened the heart of your servant Thomas Bray to the needs of the Church in the New World, and to found societies to relieve them: Make the Church diligent at all times to propagate the Gospel, and to promote the spread of Christian knowledge; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. God of all goodness help us we pray as we prepare enter this time of going into our own wilderness experience with You, Jesus, and each other.
God we pray that when temptations befall us we may find ourselves leaning on you for help and that we may know that with you "All things are possible"
God we pray for the least of these who remind us of what it must have been like for the Disciples when they began their early ministry. Help us to gently and humbly,love, care, serve, and protect them wherever they may be.
God we pray for all of us who are experiencing spiritual dry spells that we may find this a time of rest and listening to you with the ears of our hearts and heart homes.
God we pray for all of our families who may not practice our faith and that they may learn to understand why we do the things we do. We pray that they may find You when they are ready.
God we pray for an end to violence and terror. We pray that peace may prevail upon earth and that we may do in the words of Micah 'Do Justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God".
God we pray for all who are battling illness and who are hospitalized. We pray for our family members who are waiting and sitting vigil beside their loved ones waiting for healing and those who are in wait for their loved ones to transition into the Thin Places.

God we pray for sound government in this our nation and in the nations of the world and that a spirit of respect may grow and prosper. Help the politicians to lay down their verbal weaponry and seek only to do good for the people they have been elected to serve.
God we pray for our youth and that they may not be led into gangs and violence ant they may find positive ways to live their lives. We pray for all those who are parents and who mentor our youth.
God we pray for our cities and towns that they may be protected from violence and hatred.
God we pray that we may have love energy to be enlivened to do your will and show your love and light to your fragile and broken world.
