Good Evening Beloved Community!
Happy Saturday and a day of Pride Parades, Marches to Keep Families Together, Relays For Life, and the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival! Our feet these days tell the story. This morning I was going to walk the Survivor Lap for the Relay For Life but I needed to get home to receive my new washer. I have my new Tee-Shirt, Medal, and Swag bag. I'm returning tonight for the Luminaria Ceremony that honors and remembers those who have lost their lives to Cancer and those who are survivors. This will be our prayer walking time. I have been thinking about how walking plays an important role in spreading the God News, fundraising, protesting, and being a pilgrim. Today we are launching our Social Justice Prayer Walking Framework, just in time for Summer. This will be a daily focused walk with themes reminding us to get out and walk the walk, talk the talk, and be the Beloved Community who are Children of God. If you cannot walk, you certainly can pray in place. Today we begin with a basic prayer walk that will include a subtle social justice theme due to it being our Self-Care, Sabbath, and Retreat weekend. Saturdays we will dedicate our walks to those who do not have time for Sabbath and Self-Care. So my dear brothers and sisters let us begin.

Tonight or tomorrow we walk just enough to pray and calm our hearts and enjoy God's Cathedral of Life and become more familiar with our neighborhoods. This is similar to rogating.
Let us first dedicate our walk to the least of these and ask for God's help as we place our feet on holy ground.
Please make sure you have locked your doors and tied your shoes securely. Watch where you are walking.
As we walk let us pay attention to the pavement below our feet. If it is smooth we pray and give thanks for our city workers who maintain the sidewalks.
If they are crooked and unsafe we pray for all our neighbors who are struggling, the working poor, the food insecure, the elderly, and all those who are in need.
We give thanks for all the wonderful gifts of nature God has given us. Listen to the bird song, Smell the BBQs, feel the breezes and the warmth of the Sun. Take time to stop, look, listen, and take it all in.
If you are walking in the evening (Not recommended) please check your street lighting and if any poles do not have a light bulb. Each pole should have a number. Please pray for safety in your town.
Pray for any person who comes along your path.
Begin to notice areas that the city needs to be attentive to.
Pray your prayer list.

God as we meet together this evening and light our candles let us be at prayer and by your loving grace be purified, empowered, fed and watered by the living waters that course through our veins.God cleanse our bodies, minds, and spirits as we begin another week and that we may continue to work towards reconciliation, unity, be made to live as CALM (Compassionate, accepting, Loving, and merciful ) beings. We pray this night for the courage to sit down with our many family members who may feel alienation, hatred, misunderstood, and feared. May we practice obedience as your servant St. Benedict and "listen with the ear of the heart!" May our hearts be open this week and be expanding to include more of our family members and even those with whom we find ourselves on the opposite side of the bridge. May we begin to walk towards each other and meet one another step by step until we meet half way and allow for your spirit to empower our hearts and not be afraid to show vulnerability and see you in each other's eyes. May we embrace each other and recognize that the heart beat we hear is from you as is beats out its special cadence of love, mercy, peace, and hope. We pray these and all other prayers this night on holy ground, prayed by your holy family , in the Holy Name of Jesus. Amen.

Good Night Beloved Ones! I have returned from the Luminaria Ceremony. Here is tonight's word of hope to the fragile and broken world in which we live:
A Song of God’s Love
1 John 4:7-11
Beloved, let us love one another, *
for love is of God.
Whoever does not love does not know God, *
for God is Love.
In this the love of God was revealed among us, *
that God sent his only Son into the world,
so that we might live through Jesus Christ.
In this is love, not that we loved God but that God loved us *
and sent his Son that sins might be forgiven.
Beloved, since God loved us so much, *
we ought also to love one another.
For if we love one another, God abides in us, *
and God’s love will be perfected in us.
