Open the Red Door of Sanctuary and find love, welcome, and acceptance! This is The Beloved Community for all people!

J

Good Evening Beloved Community!

Happy Friday! There is so much to talk about and at the same time a time to pray and make vigil here in our online sanctuary where there is an open red door waiting for you to come in and feel safe.  We here at Walk With Me On Our Journey pledge to you that is a safe place for all God's children, where diversity is treasured, and each one of you is beloved. I have been disheartened by comments made by the President of the United States. He does not represent any of my views and I pledge to you that I will continue to strive for justice, and peace and respect the dignity of every human  being ! With God's help.  Tonight we are going to do a special vigil where we light a candle of unity and pray. I have decided to dispense with the readings and go into a time of prayer, silence, and meditation.  Let us first  engage in the "Peace be Stills"

Peace be still.
Peace be.
Peace.

Peace be still.
Peace be.
Peace.

Peace be still.
Peace be.
Peace.

Let us light one single candle of unity and love!

A PRAYER FOR GOD’S LIGHT

Eternal God, shed your light on us who watch for you,
that our lips may praise you,
our hearts bless you,
and our lives glorify you,
through Jesus Christ our Saviour.
Amen.

God of Love we come before you this night as one family in unity and love. We stand before you as your beloved children made in your image and likeness asking that we be empowered to stand with each other when we are the focus of bullying, bigotry, premeditated invisibility, or any action that creates rather than celebrates the diverse humanity that you have created. Help us stand and let our voices be loud, with urgency. Let us take our feet and march together as symbols as one family in courage and steadfast determination to be the change we want to see in the world. As we make vigil and pray this night let us continually remember your call to welcome all and respect the dignity of every stranger in our midst wherever they have come from. Let us also remember to pray for the rich diversity of all nations, faiths, and peoples.

Let us pray beginning with the words from St. Francis of Assisi :

Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is
hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where
there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where
there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where
there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to
be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is
in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we
are born to eternal life.  Amen

For the Human Family

O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For those who Influence Public Opinion

Almighty God, you proclaim your truth in every age by many voices: Direct, in our time, we pray, those who speak where many listen and write what many read; that they may do their part in making the heart of this people wise, its mind sound, and its will righteous; to the honor of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For what and whom shall we pray?

God we pray for all faiths that have begun their time of Sabbath observance. Let us be with them in spirit, unity, and love.

May we all be one.

God we pray for all of your children who are lost, lonely and alone this night. May we seek to help them in any way that we can. May we remember that we also are the least of these.

May we all be one.

God we pray that we may have changes of mind  and heart whenever we fall into sin and speak ill of another. May we remember that when we speak ill of another we are speaking to you!

May we all be one.

God give us courage to stand for all peoples who are immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, those who come here as protected individuals. May we radically love and welcome the stranger remembering that Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, Abraham and Sarah, The Israelites in Egypt, and those in the Babylonian Captivity were once aliens in foreign lands.

May we all be one.

God we pray for sound governance in this nation and in all nations of the world that  leaders may in the words of the prophet Micah " Do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God". May we help them to remember that they serve the people and not corporate and greedy interests.

May we all be one.

God we Speak the Name of Christa the first Transgender person to be murdered this year. Let us speak the names of those who have been senselessly killed remembering those on our hearts________________
God help us to remember that when one is senselessly killed all of us have been killed in our hearts.

May we all be one.

God we hold all people who have been affected by wildfire, earthquake, flood, and sever weather. We continue to remember Haiti, California, Puerto Rico, Honduras, and any and all places that you know God.  We pray for all who have lost property, livelihoods, and most especially family members and friends .  God we pray for all aid agencies responding to their needs, in rescue work, and clean up.
Help our hearts to be united with them.

May we all be one.

God  we offer our prayers for________________

Let us come together and pray Psalm 121

1I lift up my ′ eyes · to the ′ hills:
but ′ where · shall I ′ look for ′ help?
2My help ′ comes · from the ′ Lord:
who has ′ made ′ heaven · and ′ earth.
3The Lord will not let your ′ foot ′ stumble:
the one who ′ guards you ′ will not ′ sleep.
4The one who keeps watch ′ over · this ′ people:
shall ′ neither ′ doze nor ′ sleep.
5The Lord is the one ′ who will ′ guard you:

2 Corinthians 4:6-10New Revised Standard Version, Anglicised (NRSVA)

For it is the God who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness’, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible in our bodies.

For the Future of the Human Race

O God our heavenly Father, you have blessed us and given us dominion over all the earth: Increase our reverence before the mystery of life; and give us new insight into your purposes for the human race, and new wisdom and determination in making provision for its future in accordance with your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

IN LAK’ECH

Tú eres mi otro yo.

You are my other me.

Si te hago daño a ti,

If I do harm to you,

Me hago daño a mi mismo.

I do harm to myself.

Si te amo y respeto,

If I love and respect you,

Me amo y respeto yo.

I love and respect myself.

Psalm 23

Dear God, you sustain me and feed me: like a shepherd you guide me.You lead me to an oasis of green, to lie down by restful waters. You refresh my soul for the journey, and guide me along trusted roads. The God of justice is your name. Though I must enter the darkness of death, I will fear no evil.
For you are with me, your rod and staff comfort me.
You prepare a table before my very eyes, in the presence of those who trouble me.
You anoint my head with oil, and you fill my cup to the brim.Your loving kindness and mercy will meet me every day of my life,  and I will dwell in the house of my God for ever.

“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”

― Teresa of Ávila

Prayer in Honor of Aelred our saint of the day.

Almighty God, you endowed the abbot Aelred with the gift of Christian friendship and the wisdom to lead others in the way of holiness: Grant to your people that same spirit of mutual affection, that, in loving one another, we may know the love of Christ and rejoice in the gift of your eternal goodness; through the same Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Gracious God of Love, Compassion, and Healing ,we give thanks for our many blessings as we pray to you this night.

Gracious God of Love, Compassion, and Healing, we pray for those who are ill and in pain may they be relieved and healed of all suffering of body, mind, and spirit. May they feel you healing and loving balm permeating throughout.

Gracious God of Love, Compassion, and Healing  give us courage to speak for the voiceless ones and help promote justice for all and respect for every living being on this your fragile planet Earth.

Gracious God of Love, Compassion, and Healing,  help us to be forgiving and accept the forgiveness of the wrongs that have been done to us and and as we have done to others.

Gracious God of Love, Compassion, and Healing, take our hands, feet, voices, and all our whole beings and make them holy and fit to serve you and the least of these our family members who are in need.

Gracious God of Love, Compassion, and Healing, we pray for peace in the world and that wars and enmity may cease and that we may all be of one mind, one heart, one body, one spirit, one family of God and through our sacred family tree through Abraham.  May our branches grow strong and be rooted in you O God who are Love.

Gracious God of Love, Compassion, and Healing,  we pray this night for all who mourn that they may be comforted.

Gracious God of Love, Compassion, and Healing, we pray for all who are dying and those who have died today that they are lovingly being borne into the Thin Places by your most warm and merciful arms. May eternal joy be upon them and through them.

Gracious God of Love, Compassion, and Healing, give us courage to love boldly, fearlessly, and with great joy. May we model our love after you and see you in the eyes of all your children.

Gracious God of Love, Compassion, and Healing we pray and give thanks especially for__________

Gracious God of Love, Compassion, and Healing, accept these our prayers with hearts full of love and compassion in the Name of Jesus Your only son. Amen.

A special wish for us all: May we never cease to be loving, joyful, hopeful, peaceful, thankful ,and thoughtful beacons one to another and to the world around us.

A Song of God’s Love

1 John 4:7-11
Beloved, let us love one another, *
for love is of God.
Whoever does not love does not know God, *
for God is Love.
In this the love of God was revealed among us, *
that God sent his only Son into the world,
so that we might live through Jesus Christ.
In this is love, not that we loved God but that God loved us *
and sent his Son that sins might be forgiven.
Beloved, since God loved us so much, *
we ought also to love one another.
For if we love one another, God abides in us, *
and God’s love will be perfected in us

MLK Jr. Prayer for the Church

We thank you for your church, founded upon your Word, that challenges us to do more than sing and pray, but go out and work as though the very answer to our prayers depended on us and not upon you. Help us to realize that humanity was created to shine like the stars and live on through all eternity. Keep us, we pray, in perfect peace. Help us to walk together, pray together, sing together, and live together until that day when all God's children -- Black, White, Red, Brown and Yellow -- will rejoice in one common band of humanity in the reign of our Lord and of our God, we pray. Amen.

For the Diversity of Races and Cultures

O God, who created all peoples in your image, we thank you for the wonderful diversity of races and cultures in this world. Enrich our lives by ever-widening circles of fellowship, and show us your presence in those who differ most from us, until our knowledge of your love is made perfect in our love for all your children; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us spend time in prayer and silence

Live without fear: your Creator has made you holy, has always
protected you, and loves you as a mother. Go in peace to follow
the good road and may God’s blessing be with you always. Amen.
