Good Evening Dear Ones,
Happy Wednesday! I hope all is well and that we are readying ourselves for the upcoming retreat weekend. Last night when I was planning today's blog, I was excited to do a nuts and bolts of how and what do do for our family members who are struggling in our midst, that was until I looked at the Calendar of Saints and discovered the Martyrs of Japan. We must remember them and apply their story to our own. Please click on Martyrs of Japan for their story. We must ask ourselves daily are we up to becoming martyrs (witnesses) today? Do we have the courage to shed our blood and give up our lives as people of faith and social justice? These are questions to ponder in our hearts tonight.
Throughout our retreat weekend we will do a nuts and bolts time of preparing to serve our community with practical and loving how to's So let us tonight spend time in remembrance of the Martyrs of Japan and meditate upon the word martyrdom.

Israel’s Rejection Is Not Final

Tidbits from the Northumbria Community.
Felgild lived in the late seventh century. After Cuthbert died, Ethilwald took his place as hermit on the Inner Farne. Twelve years later, having never left the island, he also died. Felgild was the next hermit to come there, but the rigours of his life in the cell aggravated a swelling on his face. The condition was suddenly healed, allowing him to continue the life of a solitary.
This Compline is dedicated to him because he represents so many whose names we never hear who faithfully follow the example of good men and women of old, continuing their battle against the powers of evil and in their devotion to prayer.
