Happy Sabbath Day! Welcome to the second week study of Matthew 25 and the eve of Celtic Advent. This section of Matthew 25 deals with the Parable of the Talents! Sometimes I really want to skip over this one and care for the least of these that will be featured in next week's study but, that would be cheating. These three sections are a good ending of the church's calendar year as a preparation for conventional Advent. We here at Walk With Me On Our Journey start two weeks early because I'm not into hype of any kind. This year we are in a season of lament, reckoning, and renewal. Celtic Advent brings us to an awareness where we must be contemplative and awake to change. Meanwhile back to the Parable of the Talents, God is calling us to step out of our comfort zone, get out of the box, color outside the lines, and get out of our conventional safe spaces and do the work that God is definitely calling us to do with courage and hope.Tonight we are going to use A Disciple's Prayer Book for our Bible Study journal work. For the past few years we used multiple translations/versions for this reading, to keep things stable we will continue with the same pattern. So let us begin. Here is the format as found in A Disciple's Prayer Book. I will post the format here and then again as we begin our study:

We pray for all of our family members who are in dangerous and terrifying places. We pray for an end to violence, terror, bullying, abuse, and degradation and division. We pray for a world renewed by peace, love, mercy, and clean water and a healthy environment. We pray for all of us who are brokenhearted and who need to have our wounds dressed and tenderly cared for. We pray that we may be the shoulders to lean upon and cry and the soft place in which to fall and feel safe. Give us the courage to be this place even to the least of these, our enemies, and those who hate us. God of all Compassion, Acceptance, Love and Mercy we offer our additional prayers and thanksgivings remembering_________________. 14-18 “It’s also like a man going off on an extended trip. He called his servants together and delegated responsibilities. To one he gave five thousand dollars, to another two thousand, to a third one thousand, depending on their abilities. Then he left. Right off, the first servant went to work and doubled his master’s investment. The second did the same. But the man with the single thousand dug a hole and carefully buried his master’s money.
19-21 “After a long absence, the master of those three servants came back and settled up with them. The one given five thousand dollars showed him how he had doubled his investment. His master commended him: ‘Good work! You did your job well. From now on be my partner.’

all poor and neglected persons whom it would be easy for us
to forget: the homeless and the destitute, the old and the sick,
and all who have none to care for them. Help us to heal those
who are broken in body or spirit, and to turn their sorrow
into joy. Grant this, Father, for the love of your Son, who for
our sake became poor, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
For the Oppressed
Look with pity, O heavenly Father, upon the people in this
land who live with injustice, terror, disease, and death as
their constant companions. Have mercy upon us. Help us to
eliminate our cruelty to these our neighbors. Strengthen those
who spend their lives establishing equal protection of the law
and equal opportunities for all. And grant that every one of
us may enjoy a fair portion of the riches of this land; through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
