The New #AdventWords and #HashTags With Meaning are here! Today's word is #Rely

Dear Family of Love!

Happy You Matter Monday! Tonight we remember the 6th month anniversary of the Orlando 49! I can't believe we have lived 6 months without these precious souls in our lives. I keep asking myself repeatedly if we as a nation and as a family have learned anything? Yes and no! We have learned quite a bit about ourselves while at the same time we have seen an escalation of hatred, bigotry, violence, etc like no other time in our history. How do we change this? It gets down  to our #AdventWord for today, #Rely. We must begin to rely upon each other without question. We must regain our sense of balance so that we may begin yet again to be each other's keeper. Mary and Joseph relied upon each other as they made their perilous trek to Bethlehem and then when they took flight into Egypt with their son and possibly additional family members. Tonight let us dig deeper and meditate upon the word rely.

But first let us engage in "The Be Stills"

Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I am.
Be still and know.
Be still.
Be.

Repeat as necessary as you do your mindfulness breathing.

God we come here tonight and light our candles and make vigil together. We pray that we may rely upon you and each other more fully without fear or reservation. We pray that we may find ourselves knit together as family and friends. Help us to know that yes we are each other's keepers and that without one another we are lost. Help us to seek and find you in the breaking of bread, prayers, and time of fellowship and familyhood. Help us we pray to remember the Orlando 49 this night and how important taking care of one another through life's crises is important. We pray that we may make peace together and recognize that is the way to become truly part of God's kindom and be his children.

God sometimes we find ourselves wanting to hole in and not ask for help. Help us to learn to ask and rely upon others.

God sometimes we forget that you didn't just make me you made us a we; Help us to knit ourselves together and be a family.

God sometimes we keep finding ourselves in a place of gimme, gimme, gimme when we should share, share, share. Help us to share, care, and bear one another's burdens.

God sometimes we fail to listen and hear what we only wish to hear when we should listen with open hearts, minds, and heart home. Help us to rely upon our listening and loving skills.

God sometimes we find ourselves not being very reliable. Help us to straighten up and be better at our carework.

God sometimes we feel lost, lonely, and alone. Help us to rely on you and our families and friends.

God we pray that we may rely upon you and each other as we remember the words of St. Francis.

Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand;to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

We pray also in the words of St. Theresa of Avila.
“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”
For the Human Family (From the BCP)
O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Let us add our special prayers for all caregivers!
God and caregiver of us all, help us we pray and remember that you have called us to be caregivers to each other and all of our family members nearby and far away.

God and caregiver of us all, give all caregivers the courage to say "No" and find respite when they become tired.

God and caregiver of us all, help us to help all caregivers and be ready to step up and care for them as they care for us.

God and caregiver of us all, help us we pray to become nurturers  to all of Your children.

God and caregiver of us all, we pray for all of your children who are the least of these that they may find shelter from the cold, storms, and places where they will feel safe this night .

God and caregiver of us all, help us to remember that when we speak for the voiceless we are standing in the caregiver role.

God and caregiver of us all help us to be sensitive and empathetic to each others needs and situations.

God and caregiver of us all help us to listen for cues about how we can lovingly respond to the needs of those whom we do not know.

God and caregiver of us all, help us to keep our faith, humor, and our bodies, minds, and spirits healthy as we give care.

God and caregiver of us all, help us to comfort and be compassionate to those who mourn

God and caregiver of us all, we pray for all who work in the mortuary and funeral ministries that they may know that caring for the dead is as important than caring for the living.

God and caregiver of us all, we offer prayers for ourselves and on behalf of our family members remembering____________

God and caregiver of us all, we pray for all Good Samaritans as we lay these prayers at the feet of  and in the Holy Name of  Your Son Jesus, who taught us many things about being caregivers. Amen.

P.S.
Take time to remember the least of these and how they rely up on us daily! I don't know what the story of this currency was today but we need to pray for the owner of these clothes and those who will wear them next!
