Good Evening Dear Family of Love!

Happy Christmas Eve Eve! Well we are almost into the home stretch and it's time to #Live a little and breathe. Our #AdventWord is #Live. Have you ever wondered what the English definition of the word #Live means? So do I! For the past few days we have been visiting our friends at Merriam-Webster and we are again.

Definitions of the word #Live

Lots of words we use have to do with life and living things.. Remember the words zoo, zoology, bio, biography, bios, biology, biosphere, vivacious, viva, vivere? How many of you remember the song from Fiddler on the Roof ? Is it ringing any bells?

Then sit back and live a little and sing along with Tevye!

Fiddler on The Roof - Le Chaim

To Save Space here is a link to the lyrics:

To Life , to life, Le Chaim

Tonight we turn our faces towards Bethlehem and the birth of the God of Life, Living Word, the Logos, Living Bread, The Living Water, the Way of Life,

We first begin with our final O Antiphon time and then we will make vigil, light our candles, and pray.
O come, O come, Emmanuel,
and ransom captive Israel,
that mourns in lonely exile here
until the Son of God appear.

Refrain:
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.

 O Sapientia

O come, thou Wisdom from on high,
who orderest all things mightily;
to us the path of knowledge show,
and teach us in her ways to go. Refrain

 O Adonai
O come, O come, great Lord of might,
who to thy tribes on Sinai's height
in ancient times once gave the law
in cloud and majesty and awe. Refrain

O Radix Jesse

O come, thou Rod of Jesse, free
thine own from Satan's tyranny;
from depths of hell thy people save,
and give them victory over the grave. Refrain

O Clavis David

O come, Thou Key of David, come
And open wide our heav'nly home ;
Make safe the way that leads on high,
And close the path to misery.
Rejoice ! Rejoice ! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O Oriens

O come, Thou Dayspring, from on high,
And cheer us by Thy drawing nigh;
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
And death's dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice ! Rejoice ! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O Rex gentium

in one the hearts of all mankind;
bid every strife and quarrel cease

in one the hearts of all mankind.
Bid all our sad divisions cease
and be yourself our King of Peace.

and ransom captive Israel,
that mourns in lonely exile here
until the Son of God appear.

Anthem at the Candle lighting. (BOS)

You, O Lord, are my lamp; *
my God, you make my darkness bright.
You, O Lord, are my lamp;
my God, you make my darkness bright.
You have been my helper:
My God, you make my darkness bright.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
You, O Lord, are my lamp;
my God, you make my darkness bright.

V. Let my prayer be set forth, O Lord:

R. As incense in your sight.

God We Light our Candles in Solidarity with our Jewish Family members who will celebrate Hannukah tomorrow as we celebrate and prepare our hearts to visit Christ again in the manger in Bethlehem (House of Bread)

Let us light one candle and listen to this song:
Light One Candle - Peter, Paul, and Mary

God of all power, love, mercy and radiant light, strengthen us we pray as we light our candles and be at prayer. We pray for your healing power among us who are ill. We pray that we may lovingly respond to our family members who are in need of loving comfort when they are going through any crisis. We pray this night for an end to all forms of weaponry and violence. We pray that we may have courage to lean on you when we feel our energy waning. We pray for all family members who are being robbed of power due to abuse, human trafficking, slavery, bullying, and people who make them feel insignificant and invisible. We pray for peace in this fragile and broken world and in our hearts and minds. We pray that we may listen to your call to serve and be empowered to carry your light, your love, your mercy, with listening ears and open hearts. We pray this night and as we remember this The Love and Light that God gave me, I give to you and to all of our family members. May we reflect God's love and light and feel God's holy power indwelling in us and calling us to pray and serve. May we know that there's power in our prayers and it comes from you O God. Amen.

God we pray this night for our family and friends who are in need of food, clothing, and shelter.
God help us to live  lives of love, peace, justice, and mercy so that we may care and serve our family members who are the least of these.

God we pray for all the invisible ones who long to speak for themselves.

God help us to speak for the voiceless ones who long to live lives of  love, peace, justice, and mercy.

God we pray for our world that peace may prevail and that we my lay down the weapons of hatred and war.

God help us to become your peacemakers and that we may live out our lives in love, peace, justice, mercy, and unity.

God we pray for all who are ill in body, mind, and spirit.

God help us to care for our loved ones who long to live lives that are healthy in loving relationships, peaceful hearts, just communities, and merciful places of sanctuary.

God we pray_____________________

God help us in our prayers to pray in love, in peace, for justice, and mercifully.

God we lift up these our prayers in the Name of your Son Jesus who is the Living Word, Bread of Life, and Living Water. Amen.

Canticle G
A Song of Ezekiel
Ezekiel 36:24-28
I will take you from among all nations; *
and gather you from all lands to bring you home.
I will sprinkle clean water upon you; *
and purify you from false gods and uncleanness.
A new heart I will give you *
and a new spirit put within you.
I will take the stone heart from your chest *
and give you a heart of flesh.
I will help you walk in my laws *
and cherish my commandments and do them.
You shall be my people, *
and I will be your God.

Canticle Q
A Song of Christ’s Goodness
Anselm of Canterbury
Jesus, as a mother you gather your people to you; *
you are gentle with us as a mother with her children.
Often you weep over our sins and our pride, *
tenderly you draw us from hatred and judgment.
You comfort us in sorrow and bind up our wounds, *
in sickness you nurse us and with pure milk you feed us.
Jesus, by your dying, we are born to new life; *
by your anguish and labor we come forth in joy.
Despair turns to hope through your sweet goodness; *
through your gentleness, we find comfort in fear.
Your warmth gives life to the dead, *
your touch makes sinners righteous.
Lord Jesus, in your mercy, heal us; *
in your love and tenderness, remake us.
In your compassion, bring grace and forgiveness, *
for the beauty of heaven, may your love prepare us.
