The New #AdventWords and #HashTags With Meaning are here! Today's word is #Promise

Dear Family of Love!

This blog will be brief I promise you! Tonight's #AdventWord is #Promise and this word figures prominently in the musical "Beauty and the Beast".  Belle makes a promise to stay with the Beast in the enchanted castle in exchange for her father's freedom. If you have children or have seen the movie, read the book, or seen  the musical you know the rest. Promising something is about keeping one's word and at the same time it gives way to a commitment and the forging of a relationship. When we are baptized, married, ordained, confirmed, make a confession, etc we make promises between another person and God. Dear ones let us take time to meditate upon the word #Promise

What have you promised to do?
When did you last make a promise?
Are you frivolous with your promises?
These are just a few things to meditate upon.

Let us promise these things to God and One another as we light candles and make vigil.

Repeat after me: I am to be CALM (Compassionate, Accepting, Loving, and Merciful ) at all times, in all places, and with all people.

I am to strive to respect the dignity of every person and think before I speak and act towards all my family members in both public and private settings.

I am to treat and see God and Jesus in everyone I meet.

I am to speak truth to power.

I am to be a voice for the voiceless.

I am to love, serve, and care for the environment and all of human and animal kind.

I am to speak out against those who wish to divide and not unite. Remembering that being silent is not healthy for the world and God's children.

A Prayer attributed to St. Francis
Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is
hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where
there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where
there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where
there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to
be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is
in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we
are born to eternal life. Amen.

God is Love and Love is God, may we love you with a gentle and  childlike spirit.
We promise to love, serve, and be the family of God,God Calls us to be.
God is Love and Love is God, may we love our family members with a loving heart and a welcoming heart home.
We promise to love, serve, and be the family of God,God Calls us to be.

God is Love and Love is God, may we learn to love ourselves and treat ourselves with gentleness and without shame.
We promise to love, serve, and be the family of God,God Calls us to be.
