Sabbath rest evening! We still need more rest and time to be at prayer.

Dear Family of  Love,

Long time no blog! I know that is too funny! It's a quiet day today. I hope everyone is keeping on track with their period of Sabbath Rest and renewal. We still have more time as in the title of song written by Mendelssohn "O Rest in the Lord" from Elijah. Let us read the lyrics and then listen to the song:

O rest in the Lord, wait patiently for Him,
And He shall give thee thy heart’s desires.
Oh, rest in the Lord,
Wait patiently for Him,
& He shall give thee thy heart’s desires;
& He shall give thee thy heart’s desires.
Commit thy way unto Him, and trust in Him,
Commit thy way unto Him, and trust in Him,
And fret not thyself because of evil doers.
O rest in the Lord, wait patiently for Him.
Wait patiently for Him.
Oh rest in the Lord,
wait patiently for Him.
& He shall give thee thy heart’s desires.
He shall give thee thy heart’s desires;
& He shall give thee thy heart’s desires.
Oh rest in the Lord.
Oh rest in the Lord.
& wait, wait, patiently for Him.
by Felix Mendelssohn (Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy) (1809-1847), 1846
from Psalm 37

Now listen.

O Rest In the Lord

We still need more rest and time to be at prayer towards the end of all weekends. Focusing our attention to rest and prayer will give us the energy we need especially with a major holiday coming up.

Tonight let us take time to rest and go deeper into the center and find rest.  Please take time all the time you need and rest. Just sit quietly, breathe deeply, and pray along with the prayers below.

God as we take our rest in you may we seek to come to know you more fully and listen to you with the ears of our hearts.

God as we take our rest in you may we continue to seek ways to be loving to the least of these.

God as we take our rest in you may we find our selves being awakened to new and exciting ways in which to serve  our family members.

God as we take our rest in you may we remember all of the workers and caregivers who do not have adequate respite and the need for soft places in which to fall.

God as we take our rest in you may  we pray for peace in the world and in our hearts.

God as we take our rest in you we  pray for our family members who are ill.

God as we take our rest in you we pray for_______________________

God as we take our rest in you we give thanks for________________________

God as we take our rest in you we pray to an end to violence ,terror, injustice, and abuse.

God let us remember these words as we complete our meditation time together.

Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know
Be still
Be

Tonight's closing is from the office of Compline in THE BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER

Psalm 134

1 Behold now, bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, *
you that stand by night in the house of the Lord.
2 Lift up your hands in the holy place and bless the Lord; *
the Lord who made heaven and earth bless you out of Zion.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy-laden, and I will
give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me;
for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for
your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30

Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or
weep this night, and give your angels charge over those who
sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless
the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the
joyous; and all for your love’s sake. Amen

Guide us waking, O Lord, and guard us sleeping; that awake
we may watch with Christ, and asleep we may rest in peace.

Lord, you now have set your servant free *
to go in peace as you have promised;
For these eyes of mine have seen the Savior, *
whom you have prepared for all the world to see:
A Light to enlighten the nations, *
and the glory of your people Israel.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Guide us waking, O Lord, and guard us sleeping; that awake
we may watch with Christ, and asleep we may rest in peace.

Good Night Dear Family! I love you! Have a restful and peaceful sleep. I give God thanks for you each day. Please start meditating what you are thankful for in preparation for Thanksgiving Day and one of the most important Being Thoughtful and Thankful Thursdays we have. Remember tomorrow is You Matter Monday and I hope that everyone comes to know that everyone and all living things do too.

With love, prayers, and blessings!

Sara
