Good Evening Beloved Community!

Happy Self-Care and Sabbath Rest Weekend. I hope you all are giving yourselves permission to take time for rest of your bodies, minds, and spirits. Weekends aren't just for trips to Costco, WalMart, Trader Joes and the land of mercantilism. Weekends here at Walk With Me On Our Journey are designed especially as a time of rest, reflection, and renewal. Prayer walking and times of intentional periods of silence are key. Today I did quite a bit of both. I'm getting back into the groove of prayer walking and I had forgotten how nature is both inviting but also distracting from our time of prayer. Then I remembered the sounds of nature are God's voice reminding me (us) that this is when we are reminded to to practice good stewardship of the Earth and give thanks for all that God has given us.

I used to listen to music on my headphones with my iPhone but no longer since I have a California Lifelfine Phone that doesn't have all the bells and whistles and now it is the sound of the birds, car motors, the sound of the wind in the trees. Tomorrow let us spend time outside and listen to the sounds of Mother Earth as we take a gentle prayer walk around the neighborhood. Let us begin with the "Peace be Stills"

Begin by offering your walk and prayers to the glory of God.

We begin by consecrating our walk to God. We pray this prayer: God we consecrate this walk to you. Enliven our spirits, quicken our steps, and hydrate us with The Waters of Life that courses through our veins. May we be present to all those who have requested our prayers for healing and all those who are in need as we walk in God’s Cathedral of Life. Amen.

Take a few deep breaths to breathe in the Holy Spirit.

We start our walk with the intention of praying and walking for those who are in need of healing.

Set your pace to the music that you are walking and praying to.

As we walk we take a look at the pavement is it crooked or smooth? We pray to God to make this a smooth walk and that we may watch our steps not only while we walk but in our lives.

As we approach the first corner we pray for peace and healing of God’s world.

As we approach the first STOP sign we Stop, Look, and Listen to all living things and for God’s still small voice. What is God saying to us?

As we prepare to cross the street we pray for the safety of all who walk, drive and are on the road and cross unsafe streets. We also take time to remember the Good Samaritan. Are there any people who are in need on our route? Pray for them.

As we make our way from our homes we pray for all those who are in need, homeless, hungry, alone, and made to feel invisible.

We begin our prayer list and start praying slowly, deliberately, and reverently.

As we go along we begin to look around for opportunities to pray for all living things and many concerns that God brings us to mind.

As we continue to walk we begin to offer our thanksgivings for all God has given us and God’s Cathedral of Life.

As we begin to conclude our walk we take time to be silent and listen to nature.
We now take time to pray for ourselves and ask for God’s healing of anything that is giving our bodies, minds, and spirits trouble.

We pray that as we prayer walk we may bring Good News to all whom we meet with a greeting and a smile and that as we look them in their eyes and see God. We remember these words :

How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace And brings good news of happiness, Who announces salv

ation, And says to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

We conclude our walk today with the words of St. Teresa of Avila:
“Christ has no body now on earth but yours,
no hands but yours,

Yours are the eyes through which to look out
Christ's compassion to the world
Yours are the feet with which he is to go about
doing good;

A Smudging Prayer
Creator,
our Father in heaven,
we come to you as your children.
We confess that we are weak and broken images of you.
We pray for the forgiveness and healing you give in Jesus Christ. May his Spirit clean our spirits, minds, hearts, and bodies.
We pray that your Holy Spirit will help us to worship in spirit and truth.
We pray in the name of Jesus, so that his Spirit will carry our prayers to you. Amen.

Psalm 134 Ecce nunc

Behold now, bless the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, *

God you rested on the Seventh day and hallowed it as a day of holiness. Tonight we light our candles and be at prayer as we prepare for a period of much needed Sabbath rest. We pray for all our family members who lack periods of rest and days of Sabbath observances. We pray and remember all of our first responders who protect us on weekends and the night hours. We pray for all of our family members who are in hospitals this day that they may receive necessary care and healing. We pray for an end to violence and terror. We give thanks for all of God's abundant blessing God bestowed upon us this day. We pray for all who are feeling lost, lonely and alone and even feel invisible. We pray for all of our family members who grieve the losses of their animal and human family members. We pray for all who are driving on the roads this night that they may be safe from harm. We pray for an end to distracted driving. We pray that we may lead lives that are compassionate, accepting, loving, and merciful. We pray that we may carry and reflect God's image and light to this fragile and broken world. We offer these our prayers in the most holy name of Jesus. Amen.

Let us pause, pray, and reflect upon these scripture readings.

Acts 4:1-22

While Peter and John were speaking to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came to them, much annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming that in Jesus there is the resurrection of the dead. So they arrested them and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. But many of those who heard the word believed; and they numbered about five thousand.

The next day their rulers, elders, and scribes assembled in Jerusalem,with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and all who were of the high-priestly family. When they had made the prisoners stand in their midst, they inquired, ‘By what power or by what name did you do this?’ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, ‘Rulers of the people and elders, if we are questioned today because of a good deed done to someone who was sick and are asked how this man has been healed, let it be known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that this man is standing before you in good health by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead.This Jesus is
“the stone that was rejected by you, the builders;
it has become the cornerstone.”
There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved.’

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and ordinary men, they were amazed and recognized them as companions of Jesus. When they saw the man who had been cured standing beside them, they had nothing to say in opposition. So they ordered them to leave the council while they discussed the matter with one another. They said, ‘What will we do with them? For it is obvious to all who live in Jerusalem that a notable sign has been done through them; we cannot deny it. But to keep it from spreading further among the people, let us warn them to speak no more to anyone in this name.’ So they called them and ordered them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered them, ‘Whether it is right in God’s sight to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge; for we cannot keep from speaking about what we have seen and heard.’ After threatening them again, they let them go, finding no way to punish them because of the people, for all of them praised God for what had happened. For the man on whom this sign of healing had been performed was more than forty years old.

Healing and life giving God and creator of the universe we pray for peace in this troubled world that you made out of and in love.
