Good Evening Dear Family!
Happy Self-Care Saturday, The First Day of December, and Day 17 of Celtic Advent! Today I opted for my Sabbath day and didn't walk and decided to just hole in to my house. I watched the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, Diocesan Convention on FB Live! Wonderful! I completed working on the liturgies for Christmas Day and began work St. Stephen's day's Morning Prayer Service. I never thought I would get this far but I did. Tonight we set our watches, light our candles, and turn on our porch lights and enter our weekend vigil time. Here are our action items from the Celtic Advent Calendar:
Today: Take a break from the internet and look out the window. Just look. What do you see?Tomorrow: Kneel down when you talk to a child Four-week Advent begins.
Monday: Take a friend to tea (or coffee), leave the smartphone in your bag.
Beginning Tomorrow: We are resuming our #HashTagsWithMeaningAdvent2018 #AdventWords
Join me in creating your own #AdventWord Journal and prayers! We will be using the Daily Office and Eucharistic Lectionaries for our scripture readings. Tonight we will be using the lessons for Nicholas Ferrar. Tonight let us Stop, Look, Listen, Pray, and keep watch! Tonight is also our last day in Year B, and Year 2 of the lectionary cycles. We will talk more about this #Journey we are about to undertake tomorrow. I may do a special blog on former President George H.W. Bush soon. So let us begin!

Let us light our 17th candle and make vigil and pray for all of our family members who do not have time to take time off from work to rest and pray. We pray for all who are farmworkers who labor in the fields during stormy times. We pray for the homeless. We Stop. We Look. We Listen. We Make vigil and Pray! Pray! Pray! Pray!
We light this extra vigil candle as we remember World A.I.D.S Day. We pray and make vigil for all who have lost their lives to H.I.V./A.I.D.S.. We pray for all our family members who still have this terrible disease, their partners and caregivers who are still in the trenches of caregiving. We pray for continued advances in medical care and research. We continue to strive to see Jesus in everyone!

A Smudging Prayer
Creator, our Father in heaven, we come to you as your children. We confess that we are weak and broken images of you. We pray for the forgiveness and healing you give in Jesus Christ. May his Spirit clean our spirits, minds, hearts, and bodies. We pray that your Holy Spirit will help us to worship in spirit and truth. We pray in the name of Jesus, so that his Spirit will carry our prayers to you. Amen.
Confession of Need
Let us confess our need for God’s healing grace.

Compassionate God,

Saturday – The Patrick Compline

Patrick (389-461) was a Briton and a former slave in Ireland. He became the ‘Apostle to Ireland’, travelling widely, evangelizing tirelessly and organizing churches and monasteries. He established his episcopal seat in Armagh, which became the centre of Christianity in the whole of Ireland. Patrick was fearless in the pursuit of his aim: to destroy paganism and to exalt the name of the Triune God.

Good Night All! Let us enter into our time of vigil and prayer! I love you! Here are tomorrow's Collects for the First Sunday of Advent!

Celtic Advent: November 16th
This was the traditional beginning of monastic fasting and preparation for the feast of Christmas, reflecting Lent in lasting for forty days. We seek to prepare the way for the Lord to come right to the centre of our lives. Every valley and pot-hole should be filled in, every mountain and hill levelled and every obstacle removed. The mountains are the wrongs we do, and the pot-holes are the good things we fail to do.
It is said that the door to the stable where the Christ-child has been born is very low – and only those who kneel find access. Being ready for Christmas should mean that our thoughts are focused not just on letters, cards, food and drink, and presents, but on repentance, humility and interior ‘house-cleaning’. The more we prepare in this way, the less we will be overwhelmed by the commercialisation of Christmas.
Prepare a way for the Lord!
Show me, Lord Jesus, how I may best prepare to celebrate Your birth into this world. Show me those things I need to repent of, that I may find Your forgiveness. Show me how to avoid the greed and selfishness of this season and focus on what is truly essential. Amen
