Slowing down and being still ! Taking time to be more intentional in our lives, meditations, and prayers.

Dear Family of Love,

Today is Take Care Tuesday and that is what I have been doing. I'm preparing to travel to Utah on Thursday and it was a day when I get to bank my energy. This is a good thing because sometimes the chemo drugs are still in the system. I'm not tired . I just want to be ready to wake up early Thursday and drive to the Santa Barbara airport for my flight at 6:00 p.m. It's a good thing that I'm staying at the Motel 6 tomorrow night. Santa Barbara is about an hour and 10 minutes away from Santa Maria. Getting up at 3 a.m. doesn't suit me at all. So I'm building in times of rest and relaxation on opposite sides of my trip. Everyone this time of year must take time to honor their bodies, minds, and spirits.
As in the following song by Simon and Garfunkel

The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)"

Slow down, you move too fast.
You got to make the morning last.
Just kicking down the cobble stones.
Looking for fun and feelin' groovy.

Hello lamppost,
What cha knowing?
I've come to watch your flowers growing.
Ain't cha got no rhymes for me?
Doot-in' doo-doo,
Feelin' groovy.

Got no deeds to do,
No promises to keep.
I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep.
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me.
Life, I love you,
All is groovy.

We all need to slow down. There was a terrible car accident down the street from me last evening. Not a pretty sight from what the pictures show. Slowing down isn't just limited to drivers, it means all of us. When we talk about we not me, we need to take time to look out for one another and  if our loved ones are drinking and going to drive, it is our responsibility to make sure they don't .Since it is now dark out we need to be ever vigilant of our surroundings as we walk or drive. Don't forget as a family member with Walk With Me On Our Journey we made a solemn promise not to text and drive and our cars are a no phone zone. Everything we do must be intentional and that includes our times of  prayer and meditation. Slowing down reminds me of this:

Let us take time to go deep into the center and be. If you desire please use your mindfulness tools. If not enjoy the silence. If you have the election returns it is time for a brief and renewing  news fast. Turn off the TV and let's find peace in our hearts, souls, and minds. Today's meditation music is this:Taize Mix

God of  love and wisdom guide our nation in the ways of peace and justice and that we may work for justice, peace, equality and inclusion. May we speak truth to power.

God of love and wisdom help us in the words of the Prophet Isaiah to "comfort all who mourn " May we show love and compassion to all who are mourning losses of any kind especially those who mourn the losses of civility and compromise..

God of Love,, take our fears, mistrust, and anxieties away and replace them with love, trust, and calmness.

God of love we pray for all those who are in need and are lost. Show them the loving light of Christ. May we reflect Christ in them by our loving words and deeds.

God we pray for all of our family members who are experiencing struggles of any kind. May we  offer our loving and gentle help to them.

God we pray for peace in this fragile and broken world and that we may be peacemakers illumining the Light of Christ and may we also find peace in our bodies, minds, and spirits.

God we pray for ourselves and on behalf of others remembering especially______________

God we pray for caregivers of every stripe, may they find respite, and creative ways to meet the challenges that they face daily.

God we remember and pray for all those who are answering your call and discerning new life paths.

God we pray that our daily journey with you may teach us many things and that we may always know when to speak and listen and feel your loving presence supporting us. Lift our spirits when we are down cast and in the dark places of our lives.

God we ask that you slow us down so that we may take care of ourselves and others.

God we pray for all who are traveling  that they may reach their destinations safely.

God we pray for all of our most vulnerable family members especially those who are living with depression and mental illness,

God heal all those who are in need of your healing. Heal our bodies, minds, and spirits that we may be mad wholly hole.

We lift these our prayers, remembrances, thanksgivings, celebrations  in the name of Jesus the Christ. Amen.
