It's raining love, joy, hope, and all that is good.

Dear Family of Love,

I just got back from our prayer walk and I got caught in a rainstorm the likes I have never seen.  I got totally soaked through and through my shoes went squish, squish, squish, blop, blop, blop!  I feel good about the walk. Amazing how wonderful rainwater feels in wet shoes, upon ones body, and the earth. Rain can bring us back to the time of our baptisms, the times when in some churches the priest blesses the congregation with water, the story of Jesus' baptism in the Jordan, the story of the Flood and the Ark with its ensuing dove and rainbow. Tonight I felt like it was raining love, joy, hope and all that is good. Rain is a gift from God and we must always see good in it. Rain cleanses, refreshes, relaxes, and renews the face of the earth. Can you think of your own stories that go along with the rain? Does rain make you happy or sad? What were some of the fun things you used to do when it rained as a child? Think on these things! Don't forget to pray for more rain in the drought parched areas God's Cathedral of life. Let's take time to do our ripple meditation with pebbles in the pond.

Tonight let us begin with our breathing exercises:

Inhale the Holy Spirit
Exhale love.

Inhale the Holy Spirit
Exhale love.

Inhale the Holy Spirit
Exhale love.

Drop a pebble and ask God to show you the way to the center.

Watch the ripple expand out and as we do let us think about how God wants us to reach out and love others.

Keep observing the ripples and follow them outward to how God wants us to be loving to ourselves and others.

Keep our eyes on how the ripples in the circle widen and let us imagine that this is our heart and how we are accepting all of God's Children into our lives.

While we do these ripples and pebbles in the pond let us be at peace.

Let us find peace in our hearts as we do this and pray for peace in the world.

Now as we return inwardly let us bask and bathe in the ripples  and the feeling of the Waters of Life cleansing and comforting others.

We pray and give thanks for the rain and pray for all places in the world who need rain and an end to severe weather patterns.

We pray that the rain will cleanse our bodies, minds, and spirits.

We pray that the rain will aid in helping heal the drought parched areas of the world.

We pray that those who must be out in the rain may be safe and alert.

We pray for peace in this world and that God will shower down the means for this to happen. May we shower love upon all our family members with whom we disagree.

We pray for all who are in need of food, clothing, and shelter this night. We pray for all the vulnerable and the least of these.

We pray for all of our family members tonight. May we send prayer hugs and love to each one of them.

We pray for_________________

We give thanks for___________________

We pray for a good night's sleep so that we may find rest for our bodies, minds, and spirits.

We lift up these our prayers in the name of Jesus who taught us to love, to bring joy, and give hope and see whatever his father made was good.  Amen.
