Walk With Me On Our Journey : Journaling Your Journey! ! Sweeping the carbs out of our spiritual life!

Dear Family of Love!

Happy Shrove Tuesday and Take Care Tuesday! Today is Ash Wednesday Eve and I hope we all have had our fill of  pancakes, sausage, pizza and anything else that is rich in carbs. It is now time for us to go on a diet that will get rid of all the not so healthy carbs in our spiritual, physical, and mental lives. In order for us to dial in with all that is Good, Holy, and God we must sweep all of the junk out of our lives that are clogging up our arterie  and connections to our hearts, souls, and heart homes. We do this by prayer and promoting good health of our bodies, minds, and spirits.

In your next few pages of your Journal or on a piece of paper, let's write down the following :
Tonight's keyword and concept is the word :Sweep
This week's theme is : Taking on and laying down.

Our questions for meditation are this:

What does the word sweep mean to me?
How do we learn the art of making a clean sweep and enter into Lent more fully?
What does sweeping mean to us who are taking on and laying down?
What can we do as the children of God to help sweep and make the world clean from hatred, bigotry, disunity, etc? Does it have to do with the word Love?

These are our questions to ponder for tonight's meditation. Take your time but first let us enter into silence with our "Be Stills"

Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know.
Be still.
Be.

Slowly inhale.
Hold.
Slowly exhale

Pause. Count to 10.

Repeat 4 times!

Now let us consider the questions from above and sit quietly and if you have your journal  or piece of paper write down the answers. Tonight let us spend more time as we answer these questions. What did you find out? Any new Epiphanies? After you finish repeat the "Be Stills" and make yourselves ready for prayer.

Here is tomorrow's homework

Spend time at your local place of worship in prayer and preparation.
Tomorrow's Keyword is: Dust
What have you decided to take on or lay down?
Ash Wednesday: Let's begin with worship and the reminder "Remember that you are Dust and to Dust you shall return" a good time to remember and honor our mortality and if you haven't updated your advanced directives and end of life decisions it would be a good time to do so.

Dear Family Let us take time for our Virtual Candlelight Prayer Vigils and Light our Candles and be at prayer. As we prepare for Lent let us remember this is not the time to make New Year's Resolution type of pronouncements of what we are going to give up,  these kind of things are between you and God.  Tonight let us take time to lay down those things that keep us separated from God and each other. You know what those things are for you. So let us go deep into the center and meditate on these things. Let us pray for peace, justice, love, and mercy throughout the world. Let us be the light and loving family members one to another as God is calling us to be. We pray continually for an end to hatred, fear, violence, and terror and that we may truly learn to love our enemies and do good to those who hate us.

Compassionate God help us to lay down all those things that prevent us from being one with you and each other.

God we pray for all of us who will be entering into the season of Lent tomorrow, may we be ready to hear the the words of Ash Wednesday and to "Remember that we are dust!"

God we pray for  all the clergy who are in preparation for Ash Wednesday and the Lenten season. May they find time for their own observances.

God we pray for peace in your world an that violence and terror may vanish and  be given over to love, compassion, and holy healing of your Cathedral of life.

God take away all hard heartedness and bitterness that we may sew seeds of love and hope.

God give us this time to be a  human chrysalis and prepare our hearts and spirits for new life at Easter.

God we pray for the healing of bodies, minds, and spirits and memories so that we will be able to find ourselves healthy again.

God we pray for those who are newly born and those who have entered the Thin Places this day. Help us to celebrate life in all its glory.

God we pray for the least of these who find themselves in severe and unsafe living conditions.

Help us O God to mindful of the needs of others this day and always.

We add our additional prayers and thanksgivings now before you remembering especially_____________ All this we ask in Jesus' most holy name. Amen.

++++++

Today's wish is that we remember that we are all connected and that is something to be grateful for and celebrate!

Good Night Dear Family! Have a blessed night and time of Mardi Gras. I love you ! Tomorrow may we find the beginning of Lent filled with wonder and be a Wonder-Full Ash Wednesday.
