Wilderness Week Day 2! Temptation Alley!

Dear Family of Love!

Happy Take Care Tuesday! I hope you took care of yourselves so that you may be able to take care of others. As we continue journeying on further into the wilderness with Jesus again we find ourselves visiting in our minds due to the scorching heat and lack of water a place called Temptation Alley. Temptation Alley is where our minds go when we find ourselves lacking the courage and stamina to stay on track or resist doing something we shouldn't. Being tempted may look like kids visiting Toys R Us , The Chocolate Factory, and the racks of candies in the grocery store. Temptations come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, strengths and pulls. This is where our faith in God and yes in ourselves come into play more and more. I see temptations as akin to weaknesses.  With our faith in God those weaknesses can be managed as long as our bodies, minds, and spirits are dialed in with God. Here are the questions for tonight's pondering session:

Here is your Journaling work for tonight and in the days to come.

What does our key word and concept Temptation mean to you?
How can you apply the word Temptation to our main theme of the week: Taking time by serving the least of these by taking on________________? Are you tempted to look away, act ,or be indifferent to the least of these who are also our family members?
Thing about how you can replace temptations into something positive and life giving.
Think of the time when temptations got you into trouble.
Think of how Jesus must have felt when he was tempted by the Devil. Could you be as strong?

Let's engage in our "Be Stills"

Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know.
Be still.
Be.

Slowly inhale.
Hold.
Slowly exhale

Pause. Count to 10.

Repeat 4 times!

Now sit quietly and reflect up the day past and enjoy your visit with God. Open wide your heart homes and feel God filling you up with Love Energy.

Dear Ones Let us take time for our Virtual Candlelight Prayer Vigil. Let us light our candles and be at prayer. Tonight let us pray that we may not be tempted to be led into hatred bigotry, division, and all that separates us from our family members. Let us pray to find strength in God's love to put on the mantle of Love and shine and show God's light to the world. We pray for all who are ill and in any kind of struggle. Let us pray in the word's Jesus taught us in either the traditional or contemporary form:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
    hallowed be thy Name,
    thy kingdom come,
    thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
    as we forgive those
        who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
    for ever and ever. Amen

Or this

Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your Name,
    your kingdom come,
    your will be done,
        on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
    as we forgive those
        who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
    and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
    and the glory are yours,
    now and for ever. Amen.
