Stop the Hate Week continues! Let us start by encouraging each other to love, listen, and stop being afraid.

Good Evening Dear Family of Love!

Happy Keeping the Faith Friday Fearlessly without Fretting. Let us begin our 3 day Self-Care and Sabbath Rest Weekend by placing our fears, mads, anxieties and whatever else is troubling our hearts and minds this night into our Worry/Sabbath Jar. We need to do this daily from now on to help us deal with the anxiety that is befalling us as human beings as a nation and in the fragile and broken world in which we live. Making everyday holy, peaceful, and our inner beings less sand papery is essential for all of us. We do not get to fall into the climate of hate and fear! God doesn't want us to and neither do I. I want us to start encouraging each other to love, listen and stop being afraid. We need to remember it is We Not Me and that we must take our daily doses of Ego-Be-Gone! We must cross the bridges we build together and tear down the walls that are driving us apart from one another. We are called by our CALM (Compassionate, accepting, loving, and merciful ) God to  be and  do likewise. To do anything else is an affront to the God who made us and makes us one. We are each other's keeper and caregiver. Yes, friends we must help the haters to stop hating. That requires courage and strength and a deep and abiding conviction on our parts to Love and be the Light to them in ways that they won't know how to react. Instead of "Killing them with kindness", I suggest that we love them into kindness. If the American Cancer Society still had Daffodil Days, I would send a Gift of Hope to our family members with whom we have disagreements and sign it with love from your secret sister.

Since this is Friday we are beginning our Friday Night Shout Outs as part of giving our cyber families positive reinforcement to stay the course and encouraging them not to hate or speak ill of each other. You may place a positive image on your Walls, Timelines, Instagram posts and give a shout out. That is our second exercise for this evening.

Thank you all for trying to be loving and bringing light to cyberspace this week. Thank you for your presence here in our cyber family. Here is your Heart and Light Shout out for this week. May we continue to be Compassionate, accepting, loving and merciful to one another and to this fragile and broken world in which we live, move, and just be.

Now let us take a little time for our "Be Stills" before we enter into our Virtual Candlelight Prayer Vigils.

Be Still and know that I am God.
Be Still and know.
Be Still.
Be.

Repeat as many times as it takes to quiet our minds.

Let us light our candles and be at prayer for the peace of  our minds, hearts, and world. We pray for peace among all of our family members and that fear and hate may be vanquished and that we may learn to be compassionate, accepting, loving, and merciful to all. We pray that all leaders  and those seeking election to any office may in the words of the prophet Micah "Do Justly, Love Mercy, and walk humbly with God" We pray that they may seek to know what being a true servant leader is all about and not just for power grabs and  and agendas that are designed to divide and not unite. We pray that we all may know that we are called to serve and care for the least of these and love our neighbors who are our family members and that when God means we love our neighbors he means all of them not some. We pray these prayers this night and always. Amen.

Let us continue to be at prayer in the words of these classic prayers!

The Magnificat

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,

to Abraham and his children for ever.

Teresa of Avila (1515–1582)

Christ Has No Body

Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.

Christ has no body now on earth but yours.

 The Beatitudes Matthew 5:3–12

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. (5:3)
Blessed are those who mourn: for they will be comforted. (5:4)
Blessed are the meek: for they will inherit the earth. (5:5)
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they will be filled. (5:6)
Blessed are the merciful: for they will be shown mercy. (5:7)
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they will see God. (5:8)
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they will be called children of God. (5:9)
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (5:10

A Prayer attributed to St. Francis

Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is
hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where
there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where
there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where
there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to
be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is
in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we
are born to eternal life. Amen.

For our Enemies  (From the BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER)
O God, the Father of all, whose Son commanded us to love our enemies: Lead them and us from prejudice to truth; deliver them and us from hatred, cruelty, and revenge; and in your good time enable us all to stand reconciled before you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

God, we pray that we may always acknowledge the sacredness of life and that each day is holy.

God, as we hear the rush of the evening breeze may we remember your holy walk in the Garden.

God we pray that we may take care of your Cathedral of Life and not waste precious resources.

God we pray that we may see the holiness of all things and especially in each other.

God we pray that we may live each day as a holy day and treat everything we do and each other with loving reverence.

God we pray for our littlest souls that they may be protected from harm.

God we pray for safe environments for all God's children to live, move, and just be their beautiful selves.

God we pray for children who are in need of forever homes! May they find the right family that fits.

God we pray for an end to child abuse, neglect, and human trafficking.

God we pray for all the missing children that they may be returned to their families safely and that their families may finally know what happened to them.

God as we prepare for our weekly Sabbath observances we pray for love and understanding among all faith communities.

God we pray that we may learn to love each other and respect each other's beliefs with out fear and the need to speak in violent language towards our brothers and sisters.

God we pray for all faith leaders who are preparing for the Sabbath and the people whom they care for. We pray for an increase in all ministries lay and ordained, that we may be God's hands and feet in the world.

God we pray for peace in our hearts, minds, and spirits as we prepare to meet Jesus once again on the Jerusalem Road,  in the upper room, along the Via Dolorosa, The Foot of the Cross, and  entry to the Empty tomb.

God we pray  for all who are ill and in need of healing may have the courage to wait for healing in Your time and if it is your will.

God  we pray for all those who are caregivers, those in the medical arts, and those who have the responsibility of caring for those who have died.

God we pray for all who mourn and especially those who have entered eternal life today.

God as you have taught us that the first shall be last and the last shall be first we pray for the least of these our family members, that we may lovingly respond to their needs.

Teach me To Listen
 by
John Veltri, S.J.

Teach me to listen, O God, to those nearest me, my family, my friends, my co-workers.

Help me to be aware that no matter what words I hear, the message is, “Accept the person I am. Listen to me.”

Teach me to listen, my caring God, to those far from me– the whisper of the hopeless, the plea of the forgotten, the cry of the anguished.

Teach me to listen, O God my Mother, to myself. Help me to be less afraid to trust the voice inside — in the deepest part of me.

Teach me to listen, Holy Spirit, for your voice — in busyness and in boredom, in certainty and doubt, in noise and in silence.

Teach me, Lord, to listen.  Amen.

God we lift up these our prayers in the Name of your Son Jesus. Amen.
