Today is Palm Sunday ! Time to begin our walk together as a family this Holy Week and beyond!

Dear Family of Love,

I hope everyone has had a prayerful and blessed Palm Sunday! I can't believe that we are here again on the road into Jerusalem with Jesus. Every year this day is is mixed with joy and  despair at what is to come. We hear the familiar words in the prayers, lessons, and hymns year after year and somehow they are comforting and a constant reminder of how we as the Family of God and Love share traditions that bring us together. Every family holds traditions that are near and dear to us. As with Christmas, Thanksgiving, and many others we find special meaning in these special days and Palm Sunday is no different. I remember Palm Sundays past where as an Altar Guild member we would have a meeting on Friday and make Palm Crosses and have Hot Cross Buns. Saturday we would return and decorate the church and on Sunday we would have processions, sometimes bagpipers, and a time of great joy ending with the dramatic reading of the Passion. Lent , Holy Week, and Easter is not designed for loners. This isn't the the time for the wilderness experience. This is where we gather as a family to celebrate our lives in Christ and in God. Family is what we are called to be.  We especially we must remember this as we walk with Jesus this week of all weeks. Families sometimes have to go through struggles and that during these struggles we must look to Jesus and his followers as they coped with all the drama and panoramic picture that was to come starting today. So how do we begin our walk together in love and faith this week?  As we usually do, by engaging in the "Be Stills" but tonight we will use this as our Virtual Candlelight Prayer Vigils.

Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I am.
Be still and know.
Be still.
Be.

Let us take time to breathe slowly and close our eyes and imagine us holding hands in a special circle of love, enfolded in a prayer quilt of comfort, and walking across the bridges that we built together and walls that are no longer separating us as a family. Give us the courage  to open wide our heart homes this week to feel all the amazing emotions this Holy Week. May we seek to put love energy into our roles as caregivers, servant leaders, and family members. Let us make every step and breath we take a holy step, a holy breath, placed on holy ground. Let us make every day a holy day and treat every person as holy and made in the image and likeness of God.
