A prayer vigil for Baghdad, Dhaka, Istanbul, and Orlando- We must stand together with these beloved children of God to stop the hatred and violence!

Good Evening  Dear Family of Love,

This evening on Facebook , Periscope, and Twitter we are going to attempt to go live for a prayer vigil for Baghdad, Dhaka, Istanbul, and Orlando. We must stand together with these beloved children of God to stop the hatred and violence! Our prayers are a good place to start so we are going to do a few different things as you will see; 


God we come to you this night with heavy hearts for our family members around the world who have lost their lives in acts of terror and violence.  We light our candles this night for each country and city where these acts have taken place. We pray that as we pray we may stand together with you O, God of many names and the creator of us all  that we may be encircled with Compassion, acceptance, Love, and mercy. 

God we light our first candle in loving memory of  the people who lost their lives today in Baghdad Iraq. We pray for all who were involved in these terrible acts of terror and that these acts may cease and people may learn to use their words not weapons.  

We pause and reflect and remember the 200 +  who perished by pausing and breathing deeply for each life lost ( 2 minutes ). Let light perpetual shine upon them: We pray for each life lost and their family members who mourn their grief. 

God we pray for the people of Iraq and those who are living in Baghdad that all forms of violence and terror may end and be restored to a place where God's children may live in peace.
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

God we light our candles again in loving memory of all those who lost their lives in Dhaka, Bangladesh. We pray in particular for the safety of all people who go to places of sanctuary and social activity. We pray and give thanks for the emergency rescue personnel. 

We pause and reflect and remember the 22 souls who perished by pausing and breathing deeply for each life lost with 22 breaths and exhalations. Let light perpetual shine upon them: We pray for each life lost and their family members who mourn their grief. 


God we light yet another candle in loving memory of those who lost their lives in Istanbul Turkey and pray for an end to violence committed by extremists of any kind. Let light perpetual shine upon them and give them peace.

God of all mercy we pray for the 44  lives lost in Istanbul Turkey. We pray for traveling mercies for all who travel during this time of violence and terror. Give us courage to stand and pray with our Abrahamic brothers and sisters who are going through great travail and suffering.  Let us take time to pause for 42 seconds or longer to reflect and remember these dear ones who belong to God.



God we come to you 3 weeks later following the deaths of  the Orlando 49 and continue to pray by name their precious names and as we do this we include in our hearts those whom we don't know who have lost their lives in Baghdad, Dhaka, and Istanbul. Let light perpetual shine upon them and give them peace. 

God we come to you this night still with heavy hearts and we pray as we have been doing for the past 3 weeks remembering our brothers and sisters who perished at Pulse in Orlando. We pray and remember  them each by name and this night and respond with "Let light perpetual shine upon them"

God we lift up these precious ones to you as a reminder that life is precious and that we know that you know us all by name and love us. We pray that we  may come together in memory and in honor of all your children to affect positive change in this fragile and broken world that you have made. Amen.

We pray and remember all of those in the LGBTQ community who have lost their lives in seeking human rights and by being who God made them to be. We pray this night for every person of the LGBTQ community who will feel unsafe, have their lives threatened. We pray for those who will die at the hands of another or by suicide this night. We pray that we as their brothers and sisters may stand with them, love them, and support them and offer any help we can. Loving and merciful God. Hear our prayer.

Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is
hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where
there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where
there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where
there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to
be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is
in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we
are born to eternal life. Amen.

Watchful Jesus, Watch over all your children and all of creation this night as we rest gentle in your arms.
