Sometimes I like to look back at our prayers as a yardstick! What do you see?

Good evening dearly loved ones!

I hope everyone remembered that here at Walk With Me On Our Journey it is  We Matter Monday. We have been saying this for almost 3 years before we even had the #BlackLivesMatter and #AllLivesMatter was presented to us. I created You and We Matter Monday for this reason and it is because of the low self-esteem and fatigue many of us find ourselves in on a Monday. Many of us awaken to the heaviness of a new week beginning and this was and is a way to affirm everyone's person to feel valued. Everyone is valued and even the hair on our head is counted by God.  Everyone is precious so let's keep honoring each other and ensuring that everyone is treated with respect, dignity, and of priceless value.  I began thinking about what I would do for our time of prayer and vigil time and it had occurred to me that using old prayers that I had written in blogs written on this date years a part might be a way of connecting each of us together in time and space. Our prayer vigil comes from last year's blog and when you see it, believe me you will find it surprising as to the words and similar themes. We haven't moved much in time and that is distressing and hurts my heart. Everyone wants to go back in time and to the not so good old days. Today as we look back, we move forward in our prayers and in union with each other.  Let us use these two sets of prayers as a yardstick and see where we are and where we have been and where we need to go.

Our Nightly prayer Vigil comes from the blog I wrote last year on this date. We light our candles and be at prayer.
God we come to you in the quiet of our being to ask you to help us to go deeper and take time for listening and conversation with you.
God we come to you in the quiet of our being to seek peace in our bodies, minds, and spirits.
God we come to you in the quiet of our being to pray for peace in this fragile and broken world.
God we come to you in the quiet of our being to pray for all of your children who are feeling restless and anxious that their hearts and minds may be stilled.
God we come to you in the quiet of our being to pray for an end to the violence in our neighborhoods, cities, nation, and the world that peace may prevail upon earth.
God we come to you in the quiet of our being to feel your loving presence indwelling in each of us.
God we come to you in the quiet of our being to keep all wandering thoughts and anxieties away from our times with you.

God we come to you in the quiet of our being to pray for all of our family members who are in need of prayers remembering_________________
God we come to you in the quiet of our being in the words of St. Benedict of Nursia and Listen with the ear of the heart.
God we come to you in the quiet of our being with tender hearts and heart homes remembering our family members who are the most vulnerable and the least of these. Protect and lovingly keep them from harm. Give them safe shelter, nutritious food, and warm clothing.
God we come to you in the quiet of our being holding those in prayer who are scared, lonely, sad, and force themselves to pretend otherwise*
God we come to you in the quiet of our being to be with all of our family members who are mourning and entering grief's long journey. We pray that your holy comfort may surround them as they await their loved ones's who are transitioning into the Thin Places. Help us to lovingly respond to their needs.
God we come to you in the quiet of our being to offer our thanksgivings, remembrances, and celebrations and any other prayers we may have_______________
God we come to you in the quiet of our being to pray for all who are traveling either long or short distances.
God we come to you in the quiet of our being to lift up these our prayers in the name of Jesus your Son. Amen.

We will use the set of prayers from a two Years ago yesterday:
Loving God we come before you this night with our hearts and minds fixed on your broken world that is in need of peace, healing, and reconciliation.

We pray for our family members throughout the world who are refugees and those who care fro them and give them compassionate and loving aid. May we welcome the stranger and refugee in our midst.

We pray that we may have loving and tender hearts to love all our brothers and sisters .

Help us not to discriminate against your children. Remembering that we are your children and part of the family of God too.

God we pray for the healing of divisions and that we all may be one with each other and with You O, God.

We pray for the healing of all who are ill in body, mind , and spirit that their  sufferings may be relieved and comforted.

We pray for all care givers of every stripe and that they may ask for help and be given respite.

We pray for our vulnerable family members and that includes our animal family members.

We pray that we may protect your Cathedral of Life and become better at conservation.

We pray for rain in all the drought parched areas of our country and the world.

We pray for all who travel and for traveling mercies as they move from place to place.

We pray for peace in all the holy places of the Middle East and that wars and violence may cease.

We pray for an end to violence in all its  forms in our country and throughout the world.

May we remember the words of  St. Francis of Assisi :

Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is
hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where
there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where
there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where
there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to
be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is
in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we
are born to eternal life. Amen

We pray especially for those who are dying and those who have entered the Thin Places this day and in the day past.

We pray for all who mourn and those who sit vigil at bedside of those who are dying.

*We remember all those who have asked us to pray for especially we offer our prayers on their behalf especially those whom we name now ______________________
