Self-Care Saturday and why it matters!

Dear Family of Love,

Happy Self-care Saturday! I'm writing this from the exhibit hall at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario California. Today I would like to invite you to take time for Self-Care. This isn't just  a casual suggestion, it is an urgent request. We all get to the point where we all feel like we are at the end of our ropes, that is where Self-Care Saturday comes in! Today's affirmation is this: Be kind to yourself! You are loved, you matter, and God's beloved child! God expects us to take time for prayer, meditation, and rest. Today is our pre-Sabbath Day of Rest!  Tomorrow you get an additional day of rest with an emphasis on our relationship with God. Yesterday was Keeping the Faith Friday Fearlessly without Fretting. Did you remember to write your worries, anxieties, and fears down and place them in the Worry/ Sabbath Box last night as is our custom on Friday evenings prior to the weekend so that we can have a time of rest, relaxation, and renewal devoid of all the worry junk. How do we do this since it is after all the holiday season? Well dear family of  Love, here is our guide to help make today much easier to manage.

Stop devaluing yourself! You Matter and You Matter to God!
Stop the glorification of busy! Too much busy work often draws you away from spending time with God in prayer and resting. Jesus was good at this  follow His model.
Stop taking everything so seriously: Humor and fun are good stress releases.
Stop doubting yourself. Doubt only leads you down a path of worry, anxiety, and an endless spiral that will harm your bodies, minds, and spirits!

Take time to be kind to yourself by:
Getting outside and enjoying God's Cathedral of  life.
Reading and if you can each day reading and meditating upon God's Word.
Make tonight your date night with your significant other or yourself.
Make today your day! What ever helps you to find joy do that.
Make a list of  today's  priorities beginning with yourself.
Delegate things out to family members or friends.

Self care for women:
Get a mani -pedi have your hair done.
Take a walk, hike, ride your bike.
Have lunch with the girls or favorite friends.
Get a massage.
Do an at home spa treatment.
Go shopping for something that will mean something to you.
