Telling our Stories from the heart

Dear Family of  Love (God)

For the past  few days I have been at the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles' annual convention/ I was struck this year by the telling of stories. It seems as though writing Walk With Me On Our Journey has opened my ears to hearing the stories of all of our family members. We have seemed to have lost the art of telling our stories, truths, the family lore, and the like. Last evening I listened to a women tell her story and the courage it takes her to tell her life's experiences and not have people judge her. We talked about living authentically or  being our true selves. What does that have to do with God and what does it have to do with us? Everything. When God created us God expected us to be authentically our true selves. Let us begin to tell our stories as our true selves and from  the heart. We are not to put on masks as a certain soap opera is using in its current story line. We need to shed these things in order to live a healthy life both physically and spiritually. We can't hide from God so why hide from each other. We need to tell our story first in prayer to God, then to ourselves, and then to our family members. Each time we do this we live more truly as the beautiful children of God who are loving and who matter. So let us during  this season of  Advent where joyful expectation is the order of the day begin to tell the stories of  our family holidays just like the Gospels told the story of Jesus' birth What is the story surrounding your birth? I will tell you mine on Monday as that is my birthday.  As we begin to do this we will begin to see each other face to face and reflecting God's image. I'll bet that we have more things in common than we do differences! The nex few days let's write our stories and meditate upon them.Tonight let us pray to God to allow us to live authentically with confidence. Start slowly doing this  and  gradually you will find it freeing. If I can do it so can you!

God we pray this night that we may be able with confidence to tell our stories  and begin to live authentically with out fear.

God we pray, for all of our family members who are feeling invisible right now. Help them to see how beautiful and loving we are.

God we pray, for the healing of all of our family members who are ill that their bodies, minds, and spirits may be returned to health and wholeness.

God we pray for peace in the world's war torn areas and that divisions may cease and that they may be united in heart and spirit.

God of our being help us to move from fear into faith as we tell our stories from our hearts.

God of our being help us to listen to the stories of our family members without judgement and fear and listen with our heart's ears.

God of  mercy help us to do justice, love, mercy and walk humbly with you and  speak truth to power by sharing our stories of injustice, inequality, and invisibility.

God of all creation we pray for all living things in  Your Cathedral of Life and that we begin to tell the story of the destruction of the resources on this Planet Earth Our Island Home.

God of all Goodness and love may we look into the mirror and see you with loving eyes, smiles, and tender glances. May we see your reflection in us and and in the eyes of our family members.

God we pray for ourselves and on behalf of our family members remembering especially________

Come Lord Jesus and accept our prayers in your most Holy Name. Amen.
