Ripple 17 in the pond! Time for a social media check up! Hate hasn't any place here!
Dear Family of Love !
Happy Take care Tuesday! This is where we continue to work on our being kind to ourselves and each other. We also continue to call all of our family members precious and let them know that they matter. We all matter. As Facebook asks me every time I look at the posting box "What's on your mind?" or on Twitter "What's Happening?" I keep seeing quite a bit of hate, mean-spiritedness in social media. This isn't acceptable at any speed and certainly not at all healthy for the readers, posters, and tweeters. So my suggestion is this, maybe it is time for a break from social media if you are the one feeling offended. When dealing with social media we all need to begin to show love and compassion and do good to cyber-haters and trolls alike. The same Gospel principles that apply outside of social media are the same ones that apply in social media. Finding ways in which to speak gently and comment with compassion requires thinking, grace, and loving responsiveness. Granny's old axiom still applies everywhere "If you can't think of something nice to say, don't say it at all!"
Tonight we will construct our own cyber etiquette guidelines for ourselves. They need not be long and drawn out. See what I mean?
1. Think before you post and tweet. Ask yourself how is this going to affect others and you ultimately.
2. Don't forget that on Twitter anyone can reply unless you have protected tweets. Take time to remember that we all must lovingly respond and if you can't, don't reply and leave the tweet or post alone. Be sensitive to those who post and tweet. Delete hate-filled posts , replies, or comments unless you are trying to make a point.
3. Don't hate or treat anyone as invisible.
4. Listen to the tones of the post and tweets. Read the tweet or post carefully and thoroughly. Read the comments and replies in context. Reply accordingly or don't reply at all.
5. Be a well informed tweeter or poster about the issues. Go in stupid and come out smart. Fact check everything! Some cyber sites aren't reputable.
7. Use common sense when you tweet or post.
8. Watch the cliquishness ! Doesn't make for good social media bedfellows especially since it is a public forum.
Those are my suggestions. Tonight let us take care of ourselves by doing the heart labyrinth and a brief time for prayer.
God of abundance, joy, and love we offer our bodies, minds, and spirits into your loving care this night. As we pray let us be mindful of the needs of our family members and pray for their well being.
Watch over all our family members who have had surgery or any procedure today that they may be on their way to good health and accept your healing.
Watch over all refugees, captives, prisoners, victims of domestic violence and abuse. Bring them out of danger and into freedom and safety.
Watch over all who are grieving that they may feel your loving and sustaining grace during grief's long journey.
Watch over all of our family members who are struggling that they may be comforted and relieved from their present situation.
Watch over all nations that they may use common sense and compassion when governing their residents. We pray for peace and and end to violence, war, and cruelty.
Watch over all who have asked us for prayer and the many who are on our daily prayer heart and prayer list. Please add your own prayers and thanksgivings here.
Watch over our heart homes and may we love more and more to the brim and overflowing.
Watch over all who post and tweet in cyber-space that hate may be quelled and a place of love, dignity and respect may reign.
God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, these are our prayers accept them with love, mercy, and grace. Amen.
+++++
Good Night Loved Ones! Have a blessed and restful evening! Know that you are loved, matter, and aren't hated but held in God's loving arms and wrapped warmly in God's quilt of grace and mercy. I love you and give God thanks for you this night and always!
Love, prayers, and the light is always on in my heart-home for you,
Sara
