"Thank you for everything!" A gift from one of the Least of these to me, and now from me to you!

Dear Family of Love and Pilgrims on our Journey,

As I was walking home from tonight's prayer walk on Broadway, I saw one of our homeless family members and he spoke to me and said these words "I want to thank you, Thank you for everything!" I said to him "God Bless you today!" Smiles were exchanged and that my friends is what  Walk With Me On Our Journey is all about! We never know whose lives we will touch just with a simple smile and acknowledgement. We don't need to fall into the trap of not knowing what to do when we are the presence of our family members who have little. A smile, a kind word, and not looking away are big gifts to them and are reciprocated. I find these days that it is truly the simple things we offer one to another are the important things. To be made to feel like I mattered to another person who is going through a struggle made me feel like I was hearing God's and Jesus' voice speaking to me through him.   This encounter with the holy today made my week.Maybe this man was Jesus or the Visitors/Angels in the story  of Lot and his family walking this earth to see how we are doing in the love department We never know how God works or is working ! So we need to keep watch and understand that just because we don't have this big loud fanfare of a second coming doesn't mean that God and Jesus haven't been walking and checking up on us to see if we are walking the walk and talking the talk. Emmaus stories are out there if we only open our eyes and look around. In order to do this we must open our hearts and let love in and flow out to others. By doing this we will feel our hearts set aflame with love from God, with love for our neighbors/family members, with love for ourselves and yes even with love for our enemies and those who wish us harm. Have you ever had one of those moments? Take time to think on these things and if you can write them down on paper or etch them on your hearts.

Tonight let us meditate on the words love, and the simple gifts that that we all can bring to each other and receive the gifts with thanksgiving and grace.  You may use this heart labyrinth as your meditative tool by using your mouse as a virtual labyrinth walk.

Here is this evening's meditation music.  Think The Simple Gifts!
Appalachian Spring - Copeland

Gracious God we thank you for everything!

We thank you for our lives and all that is in them.

We thank you for showing us how to love others simply by just the gift of a warm heart and smile.

We thank you for the gift of your Son Jesus who taught us what was really important and to love everyone with tender and inclusive heart.

We thank you for calling us to be peacemakers and Children of God. May we make peace in this fragile and broken world.

We thank you for water and waters of life that are coursing through our veins. May we use water  wisely.

We pray for all of us who are the least of these at some time or other.

We pray for all who are ill and especially our family members who are chronically ill. We pray for all who are ill in body, mind, and spirit.

We pray for all of us who are caregivers may we have the courage to say "No" and find respite. We pray that caregivers may learn to take care of themselves.

We pray for all who are ministers and those who may not know that they are.

We pray for sound governance and a return to the ability to govern without hardness of heart and division.

We pray for all who have died and those who are in mourning.

We pray especially for our animal family members and their owners. We pray especially those who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

We add our prayers and those for whom we have been asked to pray for__________________

We lift up these our prayers in the Name of Jesus who taught us to love, include, and  invite all to the table, the table of love. Amen.
