Self-care and you or do you have too much on your plate? Spiritual exercises to help us rest, relax, refresh, and renew!

Dear Family of Love,

I returned back into Santa Maria early this evening after a successful Diocesan Daughters of the King (R) Spring Assembly in San Pedro. Yes and I did a 3.47 mile walk to boot, but not in my cowboy boots! LOL! We talk a lot about self care here at Walk With Me On Our Journey, not because I like to but as a necessary part of our spiritual lives which aren't separated from our physical selves. I keep seeing and hearing quite a few  of our family members who are running around like chickens with their heads cut off and have too much on their plates! What does that look like to you and for you and for us all? This is  going to be this coming week's period of self examination. If you feel like you are a time of overwhelm then I suggest you prayerfully consider laying down a few of these activities before picking up others. God has given you a voice in which to say "NO"! Use it. Let's take time to lay down our burdens tonight and spend some time in meditation, breathing, and prayer.  God doesn't want us to do overwhelm and overburdening!

Our first exercise is our breathing. We will use the image of the rose below to get us on the right track. Remember to slowly inhale and then exhale. Pretend you are inhaling the fragrance this rose is emitting.

Now take time to pray our familiar phrase:

Take time to do this slowly and then finally be still and listen:

Worlds are Created by Love, Robert Haig Coxon

Loving God we pray that in this time of meditation and prayer that we may be renewed for your service in sanctuary and kingdom.

Loving God we pray for all our family members who may find themselves overburdened by the stresses and strains of daily living.

Loving God we pray for all who must rest and those who can't allow themselves to find the peace to do so.

Loving God we pray for peace in the world  and that all wars and violence may may cease.

Loving God we pray for all who need to stop the glorification of busy.

Loving God we pray for holy balance of our bodies, minds, and spirits this day and always.

Loving God we pray for everyone who is experiencing injustice and alienation that they may be afforded human rights with dignity, equality, and inclusion.

Loving God we pray for all of our family members who are ill that they may be healed.

Loving God we pray and give thanks for________________ and on behalf of others as we lay these our prayers and thanksgivings in the loving arms of your Son Jesus. Amen.

Now listen again to this piece of music.
