Where to begin! What to do! Maybe the answer is to just pray and be mindful.

Dear  Family of Love!

Where to begin this blog today? I keep feeling unsettled by our daily news feed filled with anger, hate, fear, an unwillingness to be united, and seemingly daily necrology of celebrities who are dying. Life's stresses and gut wrenching griefs sometimes do crowd in upon us. As in the old song "That's life!" Does it have to be this way? Do we have to feel stressed out by all of these factors?  What do you think? and What do I think?  Take time to think on these things yourselves. I will answer below.

Does it have to be this way?
No, but life isn't easy either. We must find ways in which we can use what we see, feel, and hear to our advantage as we move ever so deeply into our relationship with each other and most especially with God. In the coming weeks we will be working on learning to live in this chaotic world by being CALM -Compassionate, Accepting, Loving, Merciful and with Grace and gratitude.

Do we have to feel stressed by all of these factors?  No and that's where our time of prayer, meditation, and mindfulness come in. Remember today is Keeping the Faith Friday Fearlessly Without Fretting! This is also our time to place our worries, concerns, and all things that are stressing us out into the Worry/Sabbath Box and let them alone from this night until Monday evening! We are now in our period of Self-Care and Sabbath Rest.

 It is time  once again for our Virtual Candlelight Prayer vigil.
Let us light our candles and be at prayer. Let our prayer focus be on praying for our family members who are filled with anger, hate, fear, and an unwillingness to be united. Let us pray for better coping skills when people we know only in the entertainment and media die.

Here are two sets of prayers for you to use;

God we give you thanks for this day past and the day yet to be born. Give our hearts and heart homes an attitude of gratitude that we may wear with humble and kind hearts.

God we pray for all who are still nonviolently protesting in Ferguson and we give thanks for their continued witness as we remember the mighty works of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This weekend and always.

God we pray for all who are ill and in the hospital we remember all our family members who have asked  prayers for their friends and family who are our family too.  We pray that your healing balm may course through their veins this night.

God we add our thanksgivings and additional prayers that we pray for ourselves and those of our family members________________________

God we pray for peace in this world of yours and that we may become holy beacons of light and peacemakers.

God we pray for all  who are living on the margins and  especially for our family members who are homeless, hungry, and without warm clothing and proper shelter.

God we pray for  the city and towns in which we live and all who are called to protect and care for us. We pray for all our military personnel and their families.

God we give thanks for artists who create beauty in our lives as a reflection of you.

God we pray for an end to all violence and terror and that a spirit of love and selfless  giving of ourselves one to another may unite us and that we may be truly able to be your Family of Love.

God we give thanks for the Gift of you, Your son Jesus, and The Holy Comforter  and we lift up these our prayers and thanksgivings in Jesus Most Holy and Life Giving Name. Amen.
