Chemo, Cancer, and one's new GPS System!

Dear Family of Love,

This week has been a bad week for me with this chemo cycle. Not at all friendly and certainly took the wind out of my sails and made me feel as though my body had a drought. Yes chemotherapy drugs do make one feel dry all over and parched. I was tired, teary, and not at all myself. This week being a cancer patient having chemo had got me thinking about many things. It was as if I had been given and whole new directional shift in how I approach daily living. God as given us a gift of a new GPS system. I call it Gentle Priority Shifting. This Gentle Priority Shifting is necessary when one finds one going through chronic illness, life stresses, just to name a few. We all must be kind to ourselves regardless of the demands that we and others put on our lives. God requires this of us too. We must begin fostering and allowing for this Gentle Priority Shift into our bodies, minds, and spirits. This week with all the news that was bad and not feeling well I decided that my entire self was to become my priority regardless of what I had to do that was on my plate. That is what I did and I'm the better for it. I hope that you'll begin to do this too. Let's begin with our time of reflection and refreshment. Please choose from the musical tracks below.

Now dear family let us pray and ask Jesus to help us recalculate our route.

Jesus, help us to learn from you and your father God to lay down our burdens and listen as we begin to Gently Prioritize our Selves.

Jesus, may we always know that it is ok to rest, relax, refresh, and renew. You were and are the Master of prayer and rest.

Jesus,  we pray for peace in our hearts, minds, and in God's World. May we learn how to be peacemakers.

Jesus, wrap your arms of healing around all those who are in need of healing and comfort.

Jesus, enfold all those who are in mourning of any kind of loss. May we be encouraged to lovingly enfold all of our family members and give them comfort.

Jesus, help us to enter into fully the Gentle Priority Shifting System, and that we may make acceptable and life giving and sustaining choices. We pray for all who are discerning calls to ministry and new life paths.

Jesus, May we have an attitude of gratitude and may we offer our thanksgivings to you, with hearts and hands uplifted.

Jesus, We offer our prayers and those whom we have been asked to pray for especially_______________

Jesus, may we ever  be mindful of all those who are in danger and in the war torn areas of the world. We pray especially for:
Iraq, Israel and Gaza, Libya, the Ukraine, Afghanistan, Africa

Jesus, we pray for all of our most vulnerable family members that they may be safe, loved, protected, and kept from harm.

Jesus, enfold your arms around all the refugees, captives, political prisoners, victims and survivors of abuse, and those who have become human slaves through human trafficking.

Lord Jesus, we remember your beloved mother Mary this day as we pray the words of  The Magnificat:

"My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant.
Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed;
for the Mighty One has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.
His mercy is for those who fear him
from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm;
he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts.
He has brought down the powerful from their thrones,
and lifted up the lowly;
he has filled the hungry with good things,
and sent the rich away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,
according to the promise he made to our ancestors,
to Abraham and to his descendants forever."

and  we also pray the words of the Beatitudes

Blessed are..

....the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.
....those who mourn: for they will be comforted.
....the meek: for they will inherit the earth.
....those who hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they will be filled.
....the merciful: for they will be shown mercy.
....the pure in heart: for they will see God.
....the peacemakers: for they will be called children of God.
....those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Lord Jesus come into our hearts and live and anoint us with your healing power, come into the hearts of all people and make their bodies, minds, and spirits whole, come into our enemies hearts that they may have a change of heart an be the loving family members of God's family. We pray this now in the Holy Name of Jesus. Amen.
