Open your eyes to see the wonder of God's Cathedral of Life.

Dear Family of Love

I'm on rest detail this evening due to my chemo pump being attached. It makes long walks difficult. I hope everyone had a wonderful and wonder-filled Wednesday. It was a beautiful day here in Santa Maria on the Central Coast. We must be earnest in praying for rain. It will not only bring more water and help our land but it will help us feel less like walking deserts. Rain has a spiritually cleansing effect as well. So please send prayers for rain, that will be a shower of blessing to all. Did any of you get outside today and enjoy God's Cathedral of Life? Here are tonight's pictures to give you  a feel of the outdoors. Every day please go outside and open your eyes to the wonder of God's Cathedral of Life. Take time to rest and listen to the still small voice of calm and be still and know.

Let us now take time to renew ourselves and find peace at the center. Please listen to The Promise of Living- Aaron Copeland it will refresh and renew your spirits.

Tonight let us pray for our family members and their concerns.

Jesus, you called us to care for the least of these may we respond to their needs with love, compassion, and the ability to give aid freely without reservation.

Jesus, we pray for the healing of all of our family members who are ill in body, mind, and spirit,

Jesus, we pray for all of our family members throughout the world who are in harms way and have been devastated by the loss of loved ones, homes, livelihoods, and inner peace and security.

Jesus, we remember all caregivers and pray that they may have the courage to say no and provide for daily self-care.

Jesus, we pray for justice, equality, and peace in our country and in all nations of the world.

Jesus, may we respond to whatever God calls us to do and to be.

Jesus, we pray and give thanks for___________________________

Jesus, may we take time this night to find rest, relaxation, and renewal.

Jesus, give us the courage  to speak truth to power and not fear using our voices to speak for the voiceless.

Jesus, we pray for the disabled and give thanks for those who care, teach, and minister to them.

Jesus, we lay down our burdens to you and ask that you lead us to the other side of the lake to rest and pray. It is night Jesus may we rest peacefully in your loving arms and mercy.

Lord God we lift up our prayers in the name of your Son Jesus, Amen.

If you follow the lectionary today we commemorated the feast of Thomas Gaullaudet and Henry Winter Syle, who were champions of deaf ministry and education.

Here are the lessons and prayer(collect of the day):

Prayer of the day.

O Loving God, whose will it is that everyone should come to you and be saved: We bless your holy Name for your servants Thomas Gallaudet and Henry Winter Syle whose labors with and for those who are deaf we commemorate today, and we pray that you will continually move your Church to respond in love to the needs of all people; through Jesus Christ, who opened the ears of the deaf, and who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Isaiah 35:3-6a

Strengthen the weak hands,
and make firm the feeble knees.
Say to those who are of a fearful heart,
"Be strong, do not fear!
Here is your God.
He will come with vengeance,
with terrible recompense.
He will come and save you."
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
and the ears of the deaf unstopped;
then the lame shall leap like a deer,
and the tongue of the speechless sing for joy.

Psalm 19:1-6

1
The heavens declare the glory of God, *
and the firmament shows his handiwork.

2
One day tells its tale to another, *
and one night imparts knowledge to another.

3
Although they have no words or language, *
and their voices are not heard,

4
Their sound has gone out into all lands, *
and their message to the ends of the world.

5
In the deep has he set a pavilion for the sun; *
it comes forth like a bridegroom out of his chamber;
it rejoices like a champion to run its course.

6
It goes forth from the uttermost edge of the heavens
and runs about to the end of it again; *
nothing is hidden from its burning heat.

Mark 7:32-37

They brought to Jesus a deaf man who had an impediment in his speech; and they begged him to lay his hand on him. He took him aside in private, away from the crowd, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat and touched his tongue. Then looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, "Ephphatha," that is, "Be opened." And immediately his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. Then Jesus ordered them to tell no one; but the more he ordered them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. They were astounded beyond measure, saying, "He has done everything well; he even makes the deaf to hear and the mute to speak."
