It's time for You Matter Monday! Loving our social media family as ourselves! We are not let off the hook by any means!

Dear Family of Love and Pilgrims on our Journey!

It's time again for You Matter Monday with meditation and prayers. I am inviting all of you dear family to begin in earnest an attempt to change and challenge the way you respond to things in social media. I don't know about you but it seems to me that as we do remember that it is You Matter Monday we find ourselves staring at tweets and posts that are neither healthy, positive, and life giving. We need to find ways in which we respond that are affirming and loving. I'm not saying that we need to go all out Pollyanna in our view. No, not at all. We need to also keep challenging each other to fact check and be positive and see if we can change up the conversation that will stop the vitriol and hate. I think we can do this by making sure that we know our facts before we post. Find middle of the road publications that are well written and not incendiary. If you find yourself  being a victim of friends who are not being sensitive towards your point of view you can certainly block or unfriend them but that is only a last resort. I would role model Christ while you are on social media as much as possible.  We need to discourage hate, bigotry, and obias of all kinds. As a former pre-school teacher I would use these methods: I messages instead of  You messages! It is my opinion that ........, I would like it if you posted more positive and affirming items, WWJP  (What would Jesus Post?) or WWJT (What would Jesus Tweet?). If love, kindness, and speaking truth to power with words that are life affirming and working towards unity  aren't at the core of what you do on FB then I would suggest that you take a break and rethink your presence on and in social media. God wants us to be one with each other not divided. This is our challenge for this week! Loving our social media family as ourselves at the same time as we have the love of God, neighbor, and ourselves. The Summary of the Law applies to our presence in Social Media as much as it does when we are off the grid.

Let us enter in meditation with this 10 minute Tibetan Singing bowl Meditation . Every time the bowl sounds exhale and inhale during the silence.

Now let the quiet lead us deeper into the center and our heart homes for our conversation and listening with God.

God in the silence of our being, we come to you with the burdens of the day asking your help to lift them from us and replace them with solitary and loving silence.

God in the silence of our being, help us to be sensitive to all of our social media family and give us eyes and ears to look beyond their posts and see what is truly troubling them.

God in the silence of our being, we pray for the peace of the world and in our hearts, minds, and spirits.

God in the silence of our being, we pray for rain in the drought parched areas of  the world and especially in California. We pray for the healing of your land, the nations, and our minds.

God in the silence of our being, we come to you with our sins, offences , and anything that we have done that have hurt or harmed any of  our family and in your Cathedral of Life. We ask for forgiveness and we forgive all our family members who wished us harm and have hated us today.

God in the silence of our being, we pray for all who are ill that they may be healed. We pray for health of our bodies, minds, and spirits.

God in the silence of our being, we pray for refugees, immigrants, victims of human trafficking, victims of terror, violence, war and any act that separates and does not unite.

God in the silence of our being, we pray for______________________

God in the silence of our being, we give thanks for_________________

God in the silence of our being, we lift up any and all concerns that you have lain upon our hearts____________

God in the silence of our being, we lift up these our prayers in the name of Jesus. Amen.

A repeating Alleluia - Calvin Hampton
