Dear Family of Love!
Today was and is my Chemotherapy Cycle 4 on the chemo pilgrimage trail! Each one of these have and has a kind of symbolism for me. Today is # 4 and that reminds me of the 4 Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) and the Good News that we all are called to spread along with showing, giving, and sharing the Love of God to others! We are called to be the light and may it always burn brightly in the dark and broken places of the world. I am amazed how my faith during this part of our pilgrimage on our life's journey together is making me stronger, more loving, and more observant of the tender spots in our community and in the world.
There are many family members who are hurting and not being heard, loved, and accepted. Today was and is #TakeCareTuesday and that not only means taking care of oneself but taking care of others and practicing mindfulness in each and every breath and step we take. Each day we live, move, and be we are challenged to lovingly and firmly speak truth to power when all people's rights and human dignity are at stake. This all part of what being a Child of God is all about and no we aren't let of the hook as we may sometimes think we are! I'm reminded again of what Dietrich Bonhoeffer said in this picture!
Gracious and loving God we pray for those who are in need of compassion, love, and companionship tonight! Give us the holy nudge to be guided to help and be their soft places to fall.
God we pray for our family members who have cancer and are fighting battles both known and unknown.
We pray for our family members who are in the hospital emergency fighting unseen and difficult battles. May they be healed, the nature of their illnesses found out, and that they may have courage to be in uncomfortable surroundings. We pray especially for those who sit, pray, and are at bedside.
May we who have cancer, and all chronic and autoimmune diseases learn to lean on you and drink from the healing Waters of Life and feel it coursing through our veins. May we learn to ask for help with out fear.
We pray for all those who mourn the sudden losses of loved ones, jobs, and relationships. We pray that we may be givers of comfort and compassion.
We pray for peace in the world and that we may be agents of peace and that violence may end and that we may live in peace as the beautiful family of God that you have created us to be. Help us to break down barriers which separate and do harm to others.
May we look at each other with your eyes and not our own. May we offer our hands, ears, embraces with love and may not fear those who differ from us.
God we pray for all those who have requested prayers especially________________
We lift up these our prayers in Jesus Most Holy Name. Amen.
