Praying in Place tonight with Social Media in mind.

Dear Family of Love,

Another day of rest and thinking about the world in which we live, move, and be. These days I find it easy to have flashes of both anger and sadness with all that is happening in the world. In the world of Social Media I'm seeing way too much hate, blaming, shaming, and a consistent lack of knowledge of  history. I was a history major at The California Polytechnic State University and graduated from that fine institution of higher learning in 1984. I'm finding as a person of deep faith and knowledge of history a need to speak truth to power. Lots of the posts in Social Media these days are definitely not "Christ-Centered" nor are they historically or factually accurate. Let's stop the hate and the constant inaccurate spin cycle of partisan rhetoric. We are the family of God and are commanded to Love one another. Let's do just that and remember to love and serve the least of these.. I'm going to give us all a few suggestions in the form of prayers on how to handle negativity and make our lives in Social Media  a healthier one.

 Jesus, help us every time we post or tweet a hurtful thing  give us grace to think about what we are writing and whom we may hurt by our words.

Jesus, help us to be more loving in social media and not be drawn into hating, fearing, bashing, shaming, and blaming.

Jesus, help us to be positive and loving towards our social media family and be the shoulder and a soft place in which to fall.

Jesus, help us to speak truth to power when we are called to do it and do it with grace and courage.

Jesus, help us to love our enemies and to do good to those who hate us and especially our family members in social media.

Jesus, give us the courage not to always respond to posts or tweets in fits of anger and a need to one up our family members

Jesus, we pray that we may take time to do our homework and not assume everything we read or see in social media is factually true.

Jesus, we pray for all of our family members on social media who are having struggles of any kind.

Jesus, we ask that  you heal those who are cancer patients who are going through treatments.

Jesus. watch over all the children of the world especially those who are refugees and live in war torn places of the world.

Jesus, we pray for those who mourn and are grieving especially those who bare their souls in Social Media.

Lord Jesus, we lift up these our prayers to you. Amen.

++++++

Good Night Dear Family of Love. I love you and thank you for allowing me to bare what was on my heart tonight. Social Media can be a heavy and hateful place quite a bit. That is why I prefer being positive instead of negative. I give thanks to God for you this night and always.

With peace, love, and joy !

Your forever sister and friend who offers you a shoulder to cry on, a soft place to fallmand a heart and ear to listen!

Sara
