Dear Family of Love and Pilgrims on Our Journey,
Yesterday, we stopped, looked, and listened to God and rested after the Passion and Palm Sunday emotional roller coaster ride. We needed and still need to not because it's taking the easy way out but it is allowing ourselves to let all that is Holy Week and Life Sink in to our bodies, minds, and spirits. We cannot do anything less. This pilgrimage that we are on is not at all happy clappy for we must yet again see Jesus on the Cross and at the same time see our own brokeness and humanity too. It is not easy especially when one has faced a life threatening illness that may or may not return. Tears ebb and tears flow and yet tears are God's way of cleansing our troubled spirits with a different Water of Life ! Remember last evening's little video? I haven't any doubt that Jesus wept many times throughout His earthly life. We must continually model ourselves after Him. So cry, weep, wail if you must, this week but also allow for much love, joy and gladness. For that is also modeling ourselves after Jesus.
Tonight's prayer walk was only half a loop but you will see how each of these pieces will fit together when we add more prayers to the mix. There will be links to Stations of the Cross too for your own use and I will provide you with one of the forms I used a few years ago when I scan the document later this week.
Let us be at prayer as we Stop, Look, and Listen to God.
When the daily shadows come my we find your light shining in the dark places and may we light up the world with Your Light.
May we ever be alert to those who drive, bike, walk, and skate during the evening hours. We pray for everyone's safety and especially our family members who are homeless and live outside.
May our hearts never set on you O God and may our prayers be lifted higher than the skies this night and always.
We pray that we may reflect your image to others as the loving family whom you have made.
We pray that you will illumine our life's path and give us the courage to Walk With You On Our Journey each and every day that we live and yes even into the Thin Places.
We pray that we may lay our fears, anxieties, and all our cares down and let them go and let You be God.
We pray especially for this day_________________
We give thanks for this day____________________
We celebrate life and all that is good especially________________
We remember those who are residing in the Thin Places_____________ and those who continue to mourn their losses.
We pray for those who are ill and all those who care for them.
We pray that we may find beauty among the weeds and the thorns of our lives.
We pray that we may show love and be beautiful beings not hateful and judgemental ones.
We pray for opportunities to grow and for new life that grows deep within our souls. May we use the energy this new life brings to Your Honor and to your glory.
We pray for a blossoming of peace, justice, and equality throughout the world and especially those places that have political unrest and unjust laws that deny rights to your children.
May our neighbors nearby, stranger, or enemies be loved, protected, and that we may be brought together in a circle of love, compassion, and justice.
As the Sun sets may we remember our troops, law enforcement personnel, first responders, and all agencies that keep us safe while we sleep.
We pray that new life may spring up during this Holy Week and blossom on Easter day. May our hearts, minds, and spirits be opened to the grand and glorious newness this time brings.
May we no longer be tattered, tired, doings but find ourselves in new Wine Skins and new selves as new beings ready and willing to do your will.
We lift these prayers to you O God who made the Heavens, Earth, and everything in it. In Jesus' most holy name. Amen.
