Be transformed to become transformers to a broken and fragile and divided world. - A new spin on the Transfiguration!

Good Evening Dear Family of Love,

Happy Being Thoughtful and Thankful Thursday! I hope everyone had a beautiful day! Today is the 6th of August and it holds significance for many. Today is the Feast of The Transfiguration and the 70th Anniversary of the Enola Gay dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Last year I wrote a blog called being Transfixed, Transfigured and Transformed, this year we will spend some time talking about how we can be transformed and help be transformers, no not those transformers. Some days we may not feel like we need to be transformed but we do. Each day we shed numerous dead skin cells, strands of hair, and possible many perceptions about life, living, and the pursuit of authenticity. Seeking to be transformed is much more than putting on clothing that is "White and glistening", it is discovering who we are, whose we are, and where we are going. Today I took a wonderful walk with our Suffragan Bishop The Rt. Rev. Diane Jardine Bruce who is visiting our parish for a few days and it was a wonderful time of conversation and being able to walk together as sisters. Bishop Diane asked me "How are you?" I first gave the line I always give"Fine" but then she asked me again and I told her many things you need not know but sufficed to say I told her the truth because I  need to be healthy and I trust her. This was a transformative moment. Getting real with ourselves and others is a process of transformation. Remember when I wrote the blog on Christmas about being told not to use the phrase "Hanging in there"? this was a moment where I had forgotten that I didn't have to be anyone but my self. We all need to be ourselves truthfully and without fear. We need to be ourselves thoughtfully and with lots of thanksgiving to God who made us in God's image and likeness with a whole lot of Love Energy. How can we help transform the world into a better place? We can do this by being ourselves and allowing and accepting others to be themselves. We all need to Come out of the Closet and be transformed into the beautiful being God made us to be. That includes those of us who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Learning Disabled, Mentally Ill, differing religious communities we don't understand, economic refugees, strangers, enemies, and yes even straight people too. Our straight family members don't always know who they are either and many times do hide out from who they are so they won't be ridiculed. We can help transform the world by being loving, accepting, and  being human beings without divisive labels. We are who we are and that is the best place for us to be. So let us meditate tonight on how we can be transformed so that we may be transformers.

Let us first start out with our breathing exercises.

Inhale our new selves
Exhale our old selves

Inhale our new selves.
Exhale our old selves.

Inhale our new selves.
Exhale our old selves.

Be Still and Know that I am God
Be Still and know
Be Still

Transformation at Assisi

Light from Assisi

God we pray that we may live lives that will transform us into the children you'd have us be.

God we pray that we may become your peacemakers so that we may help transform this broken, fragile, and divided world.

God we pray that many of  our family members may be raised up to be positive transforming leaders in the nations of the world.

God we pray that every day we live, move, and just be may be moments of self-transformation.

God we pray that we may seek ways to help transform our cities into places of sanctuary and safety.

God we pray that with your help we may seek to do justice, love, mercy and walk humbly with you and transform the lives of our family members who are voiceless and live on the margins.

God we pray that society may be transformed into a place where all human needs are met, human rights may be afforded to all, and our family members who have hardness of heart may be transformed into loving and kind human beings willing to extend a gracious hand to help in times of need.

God we pray that as we awaken from tonight's slumber we may be transformed into new beings willing to give lovingly of ourselves.

God we thank you that by the gift of your son Jesus we were transformed and as new beings we lift up these our prayers in His most Holy Name. Amen.
