Resting on the Sabbath is good for body, mind, and soul and also is the best way to honor God.

Dear Family of Love,

Happy Sunday!  I hope everyone had a wonderful day of rest and worship. I keep reminding everyone to take time to rest! That is because it is very hard to teach this old dog to do it. I want to be up and out and have energy to burn even though I sometimes don't! This is your reminder: PLEASE TAKE TIME TO REST! I'm still finding it difficult to be someone with Cancer Related Fatigue, Diabetes related fatigue, grief fatigue, and post caregiver and compassion fatigue. I'm plain old tired. I never know which one of the above comes into play. So I keep guessing and trying to figure it all out. I have come up with my own Sabbath Rest Plan and this is good for anyone at anytime and here it is:
Need to add extra rest time and go off the grid? Do it.
Need to cut back on being an Energizer Bunny? Do it.
Pace yourself.
Give yourself permission to have meaningful messes.
Take gentle walks not 5ks
Look for activities that will soothe your soul. Art, Music, communing with nature, writing, etc.
Meditate even if it makes you fall asleep.
Take time for breathing exercises.
Eat out.
Make life more simple.
Watch movies.
Find soothing music.
Don't feel like you have to justify not being able to go out and do things.
Honor God on Sundays by Joining with God and make time for worship and resting with God.
Honor you body! Don't take it for granted.
Make self-Care a priority each day!
Prayer is also a good habit to rest ones weary body, mind, and spirit.
Attend church.
Exercise is a good tonic.
Take time for your own spa days.
Watch your alcohol consumption.

How do these things sound?  I hope they are good helpful hints. Tonight let us just sit back and relax and listen to this: David Young Music

God we pray that we may find rest and feel your all encompassing presence as we  learn to dial it down and give ourselves permission to stop the glorification of busy.

God encircle all of our family members tonight who are in grief, illness, and stress with an extra measure of your divine and all encompassing love and compassion.

God we pray for the safety of all of our family members who are in danger, want, trouble and in violent and war torn areas of your planet. Encircle them with your protection.

God we pray that you encompass all the parents, children, teachers , bus drivers, and all those who are returning to school. We pray for those who teach and those who learn.

God we pray for this world that peace and justice may prevail and that we may become peacemakers as your children.

God we pray this night especially for _____________________ Help us all to knit a prayer circle of love around them. Accept these our prayers in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

For those who would like to use the meditation from last year's blog here it is :
